The Single Use Division (SUD) is a $1.3 billion global business that promotes, sells, and delivers a wide range of flexible and bio rigid containment products and bioprocessing equipment to its primary customers worldwide.

Position Summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific's Single Use Division needs a Sr. Manager Finance (Site Finance Lead) to support Nashville, TN and Santa Clara, CA operations, based out of Nashville. This role reports to the Director, Finance Operations,  and supports the site leads of each location and engages with various departments to guide decision making and drive operational improvements.

 

  • Act as the financial leader  on both Nashville and Santa Clara Operations Leadership team and use financial knowledge to impact decision-making
  • Provide financial oversite and leadership to two sites within the SUD network
  • Partner with multiple functions to assess and strategize on network optimization to improve product and total business profitability
  • Guide and support team members in finance and on sites to strengthen financial foresight and leadership skills
  • Key finance member on business teams and helps support cost understanding and driving margin expansion in Flexibles and BioProcess Equipment and Automation teams
  • Owner of closing financial books, reporting and building monthly forecast. Aligning with business partners to verify results and forecast assumptions
  • Drive annual operating plan (AOP) process with the operations team to develop a site budget with efficiency and costs targets
  • Review monthly manufacturing variances to assess site performance, and clearly communicate drivers of performance through business reviews.
  • Provide finance support and oversight for supplemental metrics such as efficiency, leakage, inventory, E&O, backorder, etc
  • Perform financial evaluation of capital expenditures to ensure profitable business decisions
  • Identify and provide suggestions to enhance business processes and reporting for enhanced financial performance
  • Proactively lead analytics to drive margin expansion.
  • Offer expertise in building financial strategy in partnership with the Site Leaders
  • Partner with cost accounting and global accounting teams to ensure compliance and optimized processes

 

How you will get here:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field

Experience:

  • 8+ years related work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Finance or Cost Accounting roles preferred
  • Prior experience in a large global and highly matrixed organization, preferably within manufacturing or supply chain

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proven business partner and influencer of outcomes. Ability to address sophisticated problems with tact and resolve
  • Experience with cost accounting, close process, variance analysis and reporting, and forecasting assumptions and creation
  • Organized multitasker: workload prioritization, able to meet tight deadlines while achieving results, especially in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Leader and mentor to both junior financial professionals as well as colleagues in other fields
  • Consistent track record to simplify and streamline finance processes
  • Highly analytical with strong business insight
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of Excel (i.e., financial models and analysis), enterprise-wide ERP systems (intuitive, Oracle R12), Hyperion Planning is a plus
