DESCRIPTION:
Join our collaborative Cell Biology team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll contribute to advancing protein and antibody engineering technologies. As a Scientist II in Cell Biology, you'll be part of our team focused on performance and improve customer outcomes through validation of cell culture workflows, reagents, and consumables.
In this role, you'll plan and execute experiments independently, driving product development from concept through validation. You'll utilize advanced protein characterization techniques while collaborating across teams to optimize workflows and improve product quality. The position offers opportunities to support junior scientists, present research findings, and contribute to scientific innovation in a supportive environment dedicated to excellence.
Responsibilities:
· Perform cell culture activities and laboratory techniques including aseptic expansion of immortalized cell lines, handling of primary cells and immortal cells.
· Regular analysis of cell culture samples, including microscopy, gene expression analysis, Western blot/ELISA, and other related tests.
· Initiate, plan, and execute scientific research with emphasis on cell culture techniques.
· Prepare customer-facing documents, which include scientific writing and publication-quality images and figures.
· Keep thorough record of cell culture parameters and results into data sheets and/or electronic notebooks.
· Responsible for data integrity, accuracy, and analysis.
· Deliver high quality results according to project schedule in support of current and/or new products.
Skills and Experience
· Must have a strong background in Cell Biology and a master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant academic or industry experience or a Ph.D. with 0-2 years of experience.
· Strong understanding and hands-on expertise with culture of multiple mammalian cell types and HEK/CHO cell expression systems. The ideal candidate will have additional experience with protein biology and molecular biology.
· Experience in Stem cell work / siRNA /CRISPR will be an added advantage.
· Publications in peer-reviewed journals would be a bonus. Good understanding of research projects using standard techniques and protocols.
· Should be a good great teammate, ready to learn new techniques and entrepreneurial thinker.
· Industry experience and scientific writing skills will be considered as a bonus.
Candidate Requirement:
Education & Experience levels:
· Applicants must have a strong background in Cell Biology and a Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant academic or industry experience or a Ph.D. with 0-2 years of experience
Nature of experience:
· Should have a clear understanding of basics of cell biology, protein biology, and molecular biology.
· Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and possess a strong statistical knowledge and familiarity with statistical software such as Prism.
Knowledge Required:
· GLP, GMP or any other certification in laboratory practices and EHS certification will be advantage.
