Position Overview:
As a Lab Technician I at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to advancing scientific discovery and enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. As Lab Technician I You'll perform essential laboratory procedures including sample processing, testing, and analysis while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

You'll handle biological specimens, prepare solutions, operate analytical instruments, and maintain detailed documentation of all procedures. This position offers hands-on experience in a laboratory environment where attention to detail and adherence to protocols is critical.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine chemical, hematological, coagulation, renal, lipid, and hormonal analyses by manual, automated, and/or microscopic means.

  • Integrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols to evaluate credibility, appropriateness and accuracy of test results in order to facilitate entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs.

  • Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs clinical laboratory equipment, including routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks.

  • Recognizes and pursues instrument problems and resolutions.

  • Evaluates analytical reagents, calibrators, and QC standards to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.

  • Evaluates quality control procedures, evaluates results, and implements corrective action when indicated.

  • Assists in carrying out ongoing statistical data analysis to detect trends and problems and undertakes corrective action.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 2 years’).

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification in the following Preferred Fields of Study: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or related field.

  • Relevant certifications in laboratory techniques.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and aseptic techniques

  • Proficiency in handling and processing biological specimens and hazardous materials

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation

  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) preferred

  • Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment and analytical instruments

  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in temperature-controlled environments

  • Ability to work with hazardous materials and wear required PPE

  • Availability for overtime or alternate shifts as needed

  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP practices preferred

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks

  • May require working in cold environments with exposure to dry ice and liquid nitrogen

  • Must follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
