Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world.
At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in-person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.
We are seeking a visionary Data/Information Architect within the RDT Data Platforms function to lead the strategic design and implementation of our AI-driven Master Data Management (MDM) solutions. In this role, you will be the core architect enabling artificial intelligence across our MDM ecosystem, transforming legacy relational master records into intelligent, context-aware, and AI-ready data assets.
The first key priority of this architectural roadmap will focus on the modernization of Healthcare Professional (HCP) and Healthcare Organisation (HCO) master data programs, with a broader scaling strategy across alternative master data domains in future waves. A defining focus of your architectural design will be bridging the gap between traditional MDM platforms and advanced enterprise semantic layers, seamlessly transitioning master datasets into unified knowledge graphs that fuel cutting-edge Generative AI applications.
The Data Management and Data Quality Platforms area serves as the foundational intelligence engine of our global digital enterprise. Our mission is to scale a harmonized, FAIR-compliant master data framework that integrates heavily with an automated, AI-enabled Semantic Layer. By injecting contextual meaning, ontology standards, and relationship graphs into raw master data, we provide the enterprise with a single, high-trust, and discoverable view of our network. Joining this area means taking a leading role in ensuring that healthcare-specific data models remain contextually accurate, highly secure, compliant with global regulatory standards, and completely optimized for state-of-the-art machine learning deployment.
The opportunity:
AI-Enabled MDM Architecture: Architect, design, and lead the technical execution of modernizing enterprise Master Data Management systems by integrating AI/ML capabilities for data matching, entity resolution, and data enrichment.
HCP & HCO Program Leadership: Act as the primary technical architect for the foundational Healthcare Professional (HCP), Healthcare Organisation (HCO), and Business Partner/Vendor master data initiatives, ensuring high-fidelity modeling and scalability for subsequent domains.
Semantic Layer Integration: Define the blueprints and mapping rules required to connect transactional master data with unified semantic layers, ontologies, and enterprise knowledge graphs.
AI-Ready Data Engineering: Ensure that master data models are fully machine-readable and explicitly structured to serve as the "ground truth" for Large Language Models (LLMs), effectively mitigating hallucinations through semantic mapping.
Collaborative Strategy: Act as the crucial technical bridge between raw infrastructure engineers, data platform managers, and business-focused clinical stakeholders to align technological implementation with industry context.
Standards & Governance: Evaluate and integrate emerging semantic technologies and vendor systems to continuously reduce technical debt within the data management layer while ensuring compliance by design.
Who you are:
Healthcare Domain Perspective: Knowledge of healthcare data models, clinical/commercial nomenclatures, and the specific nuances of managing HCP and HCO master records in a highly regulated landscape.
Advanced AI Experience: Proven background in building and deploying AI/ML services that intersect directly with large-scale data structures, metadata, or graph architectures.
Solution Architecture Excellence: Extensive professional experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling (relational, graph, and dimensional), and distributed cloud data platforms.
Semantic Technologies: Robust technical familiarity with semantic layer design, metadata repositories, semantic web standards (RDF, OWL, SPARQL), and graph databases.
Compliance Mindset: Prior experience executing solutions in alignment with strict compliance environments (such as GxP, data privacy laws, or ICFR frameworks) is highly preferred.
Tech stack: Good to know - Reltio, AWS, graph databases, knowledge graphs.
Communication & Leadership: Outstanding stakeholder management abilities, capable of translating abstract semantic and mathematical concepts into tangible strategic business value.
Additional Qualifications
Strong mentorship capabilities with a proven ability to oversee multiple complex projects and guide junior-to-mid-level data architects or engineers.
Ability to shape a technical roadmap that aligns with the broader vision of the organization.
