Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Customer Engagement Platforms & Data is the hands-on BTS product and platform leader responsible for translating approved Commercial and Global Medical Affairs customer engagement, omnichannel, and data priorities into secure, scalable, and compliant capabilities. Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Technology & Solutions - Commercial and Global Medical Affairs, the role provides product management, solution architecture, integration, delivery, and lifecycle leadership through a shared operating model with Commercial Systems & Analytics within Commercial Insights & Operations.

Commercial Systems & Analytics owns, manages, and operates commercial and sales operations technology, including CRM, data, reporting, and analytics. The Associate Director partners closely with that team to align roadmaps, decision rights, delivery, and operating practices while providing BTS leadership for enterprise architecture, integration, security, scalability, vendor management, and lifecycle planning. The role also works closely with the Senior Director, Digital Innovation & Strategy and cross-functionally with Enterprise Data & Intelligence and AI Strategy & Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Operate through a shared product and delivery model with Commercial Systems & Analytics within Commercial Insights & Operations. Align business ownership of commercial and sales operations technology, data, reporting, and analytics with BTS accountabilities for architecture, integration, security, scalability, vendor management, and lifecycle planning; establish clear roles, decision rights, handoffs, and roadmaps.
• Translate approved business, product, and data strategies into product plans, prioritized backlogs, requirements, solution designs, estimates, release plans, and operating practices in partnership with Commercial Systems & Analytics and business process owners; surface dependencies, risks, options, and tradeoffs to support timely decisions.
• Provide BTS product and technical leadership for assigned and jointly governed customer engagement capabilities, including Veeva and Salesforce CRM, PromoMats and content management, marketing automation, digital engagement, medical communications, consent and preference management, analytics enablement, APIs, and integrations.
• Partner with Commercial Insights & Operations, business process owners, and data owners to advance customer data capabilities across HCP, HCO, payer, specialty pharmacy, hub, patient services, affiliate, and related domains. Align operational ownership, master and reference data, stewardship, data quality, access, consent, reporting, analytics, and Customer 360 needs with Enterprise Data & Intelligence on shared data models, pipelines, governance, and reusable data products.
• Partner with the Senior Director, Digital Innovation & Strategy to translate customer journeys, omnichannel, content, channel, and experimentation priorities into scalable platform capabilities. Partner with AI Strategy & Engineering to evaluate and deliver governed AI-enabled use cases supported by reliable, fit-for-purpose data.
• For BTS-assigned services, lead hands-on delivery and operations from discovery through deployment, stabilization, support, and continuous improvement. For jointly operated platforms, coordinate releases, incidents, problems, service levels, vendors, documentation, and lifecycle plans with Commercial Insights & Operations. Embed privacy, security, data integrity, validation and assurance, and promotional and medical compliance into solutions and operating practices.
• Partner with business process owners and Commercial Insights & Operations to drive process improvement, organizational readiness, change management, training, adoption, and benefits realization. Establish shared measures for user experience, field effectiveness, adoption, data quality, reliability, cycle time, and business value; guide and coach internal and external technical contributors.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems, information technology, life sciences, or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in business technology or IT, including 5+ years in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences and 3+ years leading product or platform delivery for Commercial or Medical Affairs; demonstrated experience supporting a product launch or scaling customer engagement capabilities.

Additional Skills/Experience/Requirements:

• Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical Commercial and Medical Affairs processes, field enablement, market access, patient services, product launch readiness, omnichannel engagement, and customer data domains.
• Hands-on technical product management and solution delivery experience, including backlog management, requirements and acceptance criteria, architecture, configuration, integration, testing, release, platform operations, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of customer data management, APIs and integration patterns, privacy, security, consent, data governance, audit trails, access controls, and regulated promotional and medical review processes.
• Strong communication, judgment, and collaboration skills, including experience operating in shared or federated models, establishing decision rights, and leading through influence across business teams, BTS, data and AI functions, vendors, and technical contributors.
• Ability to travel up to 20% and work face to face with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego; no role is 100% remote.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.

Target Base Pay Range:

$150,000.00 - $195,000.00
