Responsibilities:

This role which is a grade 20 Director will report to the Korean Site Director and will be a significant contributor to the direction of the site as an integral part of the site leadership team. The primary responsibilities of this role will be

  • Lead our reagent and conjugation processing operations and a team responsible for technical product support which includes conducting CAPA,  product and process improvements as well as, supporting strategic business initiatives. The overall team ranges from 150 to 200 people.
  • Set department vision and strategy, plan, coordinate, coach, develop, hire, communicate and direct the use of personnel.
  • The leader will be responsible for leading a group of production managers, as well as chemical and Biologics SME’s and Engineers.
  • Responsibilities include introducing new products, supporting process improvements, characterisation and manufacturing scale up and full-scale manufacturing with Product and process monitoring.
  • This position also has responsibility for enabling successful operational performance through support of efficiency improvements, cost reductions; quality improvements and commercial enhancements to on-market products.
  • This role will liaise with the Reagent processing leader, the Design transfer leader and the Technical Operations leader within Korea and the council of Global Technical leaders as required.
  • Responsibility will include driving efficient manufacturing at scale in terms of process yield, product performance, scrap minimisation and customer response.
  • Work with the Design Transfer lead on meeting all new product introduction and manufacturing scale up requirements.
  • Coach and develop SME’s on lateral flow manufacturing.
  • Specify and execute very clear root cause analysis methods using 6M and 5 Why and ensure that the team is proficient on the use of these tools.
  • Identify process and product improvements that will increase yield and drive cost competitiveness.
  • Identify and resolve internal and external customer issues through understanding of processes, product performance and clinical utility.
  • Provide innovative solutions and strategies, technical communications, and projects designed to improve cost profile, reliability, manufacturing capability and robustness of products. Develop a very clear materials management process that is controlled by SAP.
  • Develop and deploy a very clear Quality system that supports repeatable product field performance and traceability as well as rapid diagnosis of issues.
  • Lead QI and CAPA process for this operation as well as developing core processes such as Change control.
  • Work with all cross functional leaders and the site leader in terms of regular strategy development and execution against aligned site Goals on a weekly basis.
  • Collate on Market performance information for the Site Portfolio through Customer Surveillance and Customer Complaints program.
  • Provide Technical resource and processes to remediate on market performance issues.
  • Liaise with Global Technical leaders inclusive of R & D in developing Product performance profiles.

Education & Experience:

  • BS/MS / B Eng degree in any of the following disciplines Science / Biologics / Bio Med / Engineering.
  • Strong technical background in device and assay development considered.
  • 15+ years in terms of Operations or Engineering leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving methodology, using industry accepted concepts and tools to solve complex technical problems in creative and effective ways.
