The Opportunity:

The Chemical Stock Inventory Manager is responsible for the operational management of onsite chemical stockrooms, ensuring accurate reception, registration, safe handling, compliant storage, and timely distribution of reagents, intermediates, and solvents to support laboratory workflow activities. This is a fully hands‑on, site‑based operational role that combines both physical and administrative responsibilities. Key activities include document scanning, reprovisioning, reception duties, stock management, and other day‑to‑day operational support tasks…) and requires the use of appropriate PPE, and daily interaction with chemicals.
The position also involves reading and applying knowledge of chemical classifications, and the ability to register materials correctly in Revvity Signals Inventory and Logistics systems. ( Training on Revvity Signals will be provided as needed; strong digital accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
The position contributes directly to maintaining safety, operational efficiency, compliance and data integrity across R&D operations.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Distribution & Internal Requests

  • Fulfill internal requests for chemical reagents using Inventory Software, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to lab chemists.
  • Deliver solvent bottles and drums from stock to laboratories upon scientist request.
  • Aliquoting or pre-weighing reagents for libraries synthesis if time allows.

Chemical transfers, Reception and Registration

  • Transfer chemicals from laboratories back to chemical stock upon request.
  • Perform the physical reception and registration of chemicals in the Inventory system
  • Register chemical intermediates provided by internal chemists in Inventory Software, applying metadata, classification, and storage conditions; then transfer them to stock.
  • Register chemical intermediates received from external collaborators and deliver them to the appropriate chemists.

Stock Quality, Consolidation & Proactive Management

  • Maintain organization, accuracy, and consistency of chemical stock through regular consolidation activities (sorting, relabeling, reconciliation).
  • Define lists of reagents requiring proactive stock management, including minimum quantities and replenishment triggers.
  • Monitor solvent stock levels and request new orders when stock reaches predefined thresholds.

Waste & End‑of‑Life Handling

  • Send chemicals designated for destruction to the Environment team, ensuring SDS availability and proper documentation.
  • Ensure operational Excellence
    • Maintain 5S standards in stockrooms when appropriate to guarantee safety, traceability, and ease of access.
    • Support continuous improvement of stockroom layouts, workflows, labelling, and reagent retrieval processes.

All chemical manipulation according to HSE, Chemical Safety, Classification & UCB Compliance

  • Handle, store, and transport chemicals in full compliance with internal HSE rules, GHS, and regulatory classifications.
  • Ensure that containers are correctly labelled (barcode, GHS pictograms, batch or concentration if applicable) and correctly captured in the Inventory database. Relabel when needed or requested
  • Based on established in house decision tree, perform safety‑critical checks such as CMR (from H-phrases), IMID (from chemical structure), cyanide, oxidizer, gas‑hazard flags (from H-phrases) according to internal workflows.
  • Maintain correct segregation of materials: flammable, corrosive, refrigerated, toxic, oxidizer, etc.
  • Flag and report any missing or inconsistent safety, classification, or regulatory information in Inventory database or in stockroom and request or propose corrections from appropriate stakeholders (chemists).
  • Escalate unsafe situations, non‑conformities, mis‑stored chemicals, damaged containers, or blocked workflows.
  • Participate in safety inspections and internal audits related to chemical handling, stockroom management, and documentation control.
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring chemical stock, usage, and storage‑organization records and practices are accurate, complete, and compliant with HSE and regulatory requirements.

Adapt stock according to new HSE guidance, e.g.  Seirich analysis, CMR reclassification/relocation, New pictos etc.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical skills :
    • Ability to correctly encode regulatory class shared by chemists, hazard statements, storage conditions, supplier information, and lot‑level data such as purity, concentration, solvent based on the supplier container info.
    • Comfortable working in laboratory‑adjacent areas and handling chemical containers daily.
    • Ensures that operational stockroom activities integrate seamlessly with laboratory needs.
    • Contribute to onboarding and training  for chemical ordering workflows, stock usage, and HSE compliant behaviour.
    • Promote proper housekeeping and chemical safety awareness across chemistry teams
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and customer focused mindset toward chemists and lab personnel.
    • Ability to take initiative, make decisions independently, and propose improvements for stock operations to stakeholders.
    • High attention to detail, rigor, and reliability in data entry and physical stock handling
    • Plandaily delivery runs, ability to multitask and prioritize requests during peak operational periods.
    • Desire to learn and grow with increasing level of responsibility

Education & experience

  • Min Graduate level in a chemistry focused area or equivalent operational experience will be considered
  • Basic background in chemistry, chemical technology, laboratory operations, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of chemical classification, and storage conditions.
  • Prior experience in chemical inventory management, logistics, or laboratory support roles is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with chemicals, solvents, and laboratory environments is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with HSE practices and chemical safety regulations (training provided as needed). Or an equivalent operational experience in chemical warehousing or lab support will be considered
  • Working language : French and English
