Sr. Manager, COE SAP Technical Authority

The Role:

The SAP COE Solution Architect serves as the technical authority and first line of defense for SAP solution design across critical end-to-end processes (Material, Inventory, Order-to-Cash).

This role operates as the linchpin between the SAP Business Process Owner (business accountability) and SAP Operations (execution and master data integrity), ensuring that business priorities are translated into scalable, compliant, and architecturally sound SAP solutions.

The Solution Architect protects system stability while enabling business agility — harmonizing process intent, system configuration, and operational execution across CMC, Supply Chain, Finance, and Digital.

This is a high-impact role requiring deep SAP expertise, enterprise integration thinking, governance discipline, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Technical Authority & Solution Design - Own SAP solution architecture across Material, Inventory, and Order-to-Cash processes, translating business requirements into scalable, compliant, and enterprise-aligned system designs that protect long-term stability and integration integrity.

• Business–Technical Harmonization - Serve as the primary technical liaison between SAP Business Process Owners and SAP Operations, ensuring business intent, prioritization, and execution are aligned through structured requirement intake, feasibility assessment, and architectural governance.

• Intelligent Supply Chain - Bridge Moderna’s SAP S4/HANA, MDG, IBP, and Veeva ecosystem with next-generation Intelligent Supply Chain capabilities (e.g. Agents, Data Products, Cockpits) by translating foundational system capabilities into scalable digital solutions.

• Governance, Risk & Controls - Lead SAP design governance and impact assessment, acting as first line of defense for system quality, compliance (GxP/SOX), audit readiness, and risk mitigation before changes are deployed.

• Integration & End-to-End Architecture - Ensure end-to-end architectural coherence across SAP modules and external systems, designing solutions with full visibility to upstream and downstream dependencies across Plan-Source-Make-Deliver.

• Continuous Improvement & Scalability - Drive technical simplification, global standardization, and automation opportunities within SAP to enable scalable, sustainable, and AI-ready supply chain operations.

• Collaboration & Enterprise Influence - Partner with Business Owners, Digital, and Operations to align technical direction with enterprise strategy, mentor functional teams, and communicate complex architectural decisions clearly to cross-functional and executive stakeholders.

• Breaking down complex issues into simple blocks for presentation to executive management and enabling prompt and actionable decision-making

• Development and delivery of reports, presentations, or recommendations to an executive audience

• Serving as a Global Supply Chain resource for special projects and initiatives

• Working under minimal supervision in line with Moderna Values and Mindsets

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

• Education: BA/BS preferred in supply chain management, logistics, engineering and/or business administration with experience in pharmaceutical data management and project management

• Experience: 5+ years (BA/BS) or 3+ years (MS) in various Supply Chain, Project Management, and Manufacturing functions (strong preference towards Pharmaceutical and Biotech experience)

• Expertise with SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, data quality tools, and methodologies.

• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in master data management.

• Certification in data management or related disciplines.

• Well organized – a natural ability to be organized in how you think, communicate and conduct your work

• You drive for results – you set a high bar for yourself and others. You love what you do, and it shows

• Good presentation and preparation skills to visualize complex content in an easy to view manner

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

• A curious mindset that allows you to learn and challenge the status quo constantly

The salary range for this role is $130,800.00 - $209,400.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
