For the expansion of the Translational Science team, argenx is actively looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist with expertise in immunology research. The Senior Translational Scientist takes on a key role in supporting early translational strategies to help drive clinical readiness. The selected candidate will implement and perform translational studies to unravel the mode of action of key assets and support indication selection. He/she will work in close collaboration with internal and external project teams. We are specifically looking for a polyvalent scientist keen to work on different projects, with knowledge of setting up translational studies.
The position is based at our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium, with an expected on-site presence of 3 days per week.

Main roles & responsibilities
• Develop and oversee translational strategies and plans, including translational biomarkers, in vivo animal models, and in vitro/ex vivo research models,
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to streamline translational needs and prioritize efforts,
• Take ownership of translational studies during early clinical development, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timely decision support,
• Manage scientific collaborations to maximize translational science both internally and/or in collaboration with external vendors or academic collaborators,
• Act as a subject matter expert in translational models,
• Write protocols, perform and interpret data, and write reports,
• Support scientific communication both externally and internally, while keeping abreast of scientific literature and the competitor landscape,
• Work across projects,
• Contribute to the growth and further development of the Translational Science team.
Professional experience / expertise
• PhD in Immunology with at least 5 years of relevant research/industry experience obtained after the PhD,
• Experience in disease areas/conditions aligned with argenx’s core immunology-focused ambitions,
• Direct experience with in vivo and in vitro models; pharma/biotech experience in translational strategies is a plus,
• Proven track record/publications in innovative science/pathobiology,
• Experience in managing outsourced activities with external vendors and academic collaborations.
Profile
• Profound medical/scientific knowledge, especially in the fields of immunology, B-cell immunology, and autoimmunity, is a plus,
• Team player; motivated, enthusiastic, and accurate in execution and reporting,
• Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills,
• Good communication skills and strong written and oral English language skills,
• Resilience with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and to work effectively on multiple programs in a fast-paced environment,
• Team player, capable of collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
