The Role:
Reporting to the Site Engineering Lead, the Senior Manager of Engineering and Maintenance will be a key technical stakeholder in managing Moderna’s on-site service vendors associated with facility and utility operations as well as have oversight of the site Maintenance and Reliability program. This role will support both Research & Development (R&D) and Manufacturing.
Here's What You’ll Do:
Has responsibility and technical oversight of building and grey/black utility systems (Shell and Core) to ensure that all services are effectively delivered and facility/lab needs are met.
Responsible for managing technical performance of the site engineering partners, with a primary goal of driving improved vendor performance. This will be achieved by setting and monitoring appropriate expectations with vendors using appropriate local and global governance.
Responsible for the review of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with all in-scope vendors, as part of the Global Engineering governance.
Responsible for the delivery of maintenance and engineering activities across the site, leveraging a combination of global planning, local coordination, and a mix of internal and external resources for execution.
Contributor to major projects and initiatives such as site shutdowns, CAPEX projects, and engineering business process improvements.
Collaborates with Global Maintenance and Engineering teams to implement the Maintenance Strategy and develop appropriate Maintenance Job Plans for all in-scope systems.
Personally own and drive smaller projects and improvements across the campus.
Leads projects at the site, ensuring quality, complaint, timing and cost element compliance.
Proactively communicates with lab and manufacturing-based employees to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Identifies and implements continuous improvements that support Moderna’s growth and effective management of all aspects of facility operations.
Ensures any project implementation is provided in a manner consistent with Moderna’s procedures.
This position will be the initial point of contract for technical service / operational issues with in-scope site systems.
This position will assist with onboarding/offboarding and transition of new vendors.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering) required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 8 years of Facilities and/or Engineering experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries required. GMP facility experience required.
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required. Expected to be able to present work to peers and cross-functional managers and influence leadership decisions. Technical writing skills required.
Must be able use his/her technical background to investigate issues using a structured problem-solving approach to determine true root cause and develop effective corrective and preventative actions. Must be able to be able to find true root cause and path forward for complex problems. Demonstrates strategic enterprise thinking, finding innovative ways to deliver results and build trust.
Must possess outstanding communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with enterprise-wide information systems for effective stakeholder management and communication.
Experience utilizing a CMMS for the planning and execution of a maintenance program. Maximo-specific experience preferred.
Ability to interact well with other groups and must be able to take ownership of and follow through on assignments. Must be able to drive results on multiple complex assignments simultaneously with minimal required direction from his/her supervisor.
Experience with Delta Controls (Enteliweb) and Siemens (Desigo) systems preferred.
Ability to represent Moderna’s interests, objectives, and policies in a professional and responsible manner.
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
