Senior Manager, Commercial Accounting and Operations

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Finance, this role owns day-to-day execution across the commercial revenue cycle for our first commercial product, including order management, order-to-cash, accounts receivable and credit management, pricing operations, revenue recognition and gross-to-net reserves, and commercial-cycle close and controls. As the commercial footprint expands across products and geographies, this role is expected to build scalable, well-controlled processes rather than simply operate existing ones. This is a self-contributor role which expects to expand in the future as Denali scale and grow across the pipeline of drug candidates.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

Order Management, Revenue Recognition and Gross-to-Net (“GTN”)

• Oversee daily order management, including order review and release, credit and compliance holds, pricing conditions, delivery confirmation, and billing execution in SAP.

• Serve as the finance process owner for the end-to-end order-to-cash process, from customer master and contract setup through invoicing and cash application, all the way to closing the books and finalizing accounting reconciliations.

• Manage the operational and financial interface with the third-party logistics provider, specialty distributors, and international distribution partners, including order flow, delivery reporting, fee and chargeback submissions, and monthly reconciliations.

• Lead the preparation, analysis, and review of GTN and the related roll-forward. Prepare revenue and GTN inputs for external reporting, including the product revenue footnote, GTN roll-forward tables, and supporting tie-outs for 10-Q and 10-K filings.

Treasury Operations, Accounts Receivable and Credit Management

• Manage accounts receivable operations, including aging review, collections cadence, cash application, deduction and dispute resolution.

• Develop, implement and maintain the policy around allowance for credit losses.

• Assist with treasury operations, including daily cash positioning, bank account administration and access, and preparation of short-term cash forecasts supporting liquidity management.

Technical Accounting and Contracts Review

• Review commercial agreements for financial terms, revenue recognition implications, and downstream system and process impacts.

• Assist with preparation of technical accounting memos on revenue and commercial arrangements, including ASC 606 analyses, new contract structures, and implementation of new accounting standards.

• Maintain the revenue recognition accounting policy and related position papers and support their review with the Controller organization and external auditors. Serve as process owner for commercial-cycle SOX controls.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor's or Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• CPA strongly preferred (active or inactive); Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred.

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including commercial and revenue accounting under ASC 606.

• Demonstrated ownership of order-to-cash operations, including order management, accounts receivable, collections, and customer credit, at a subject-matter-expert level.

• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and public company reporting requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, and Tax, and to communicate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, early commercial environment where processes are still being built.

Preferred Experience

• International commercial experience.

• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large transactional data sets and reconciliations.

• Demonstrated commitment to actively leveraging AI tools and proactively identifying opportunities to integrate AI into processes and workflows.

• Familiarity with U.S. government pricing programs, including Medicaid, 340B, and Medicare Part D.

• Experience with SAP, FloQast, Workiva.

• Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences company.

Salary Range: $151,000.00 to $196,000.00 .  Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
