Senior Director, Health Equity Flagship Initiatives and Community Outreach

The Senior Director, Population Health Flagship Initiatives and Community Outreach leads the strategy, design, execution, and evolution of enterprise initiatives that improve access to care and patient outcomes in medically underserved communities. The role translates the enterprise population health strategy into multi-year, disease-area-focused programs, mobilizing cross-functional teams and external partners to move from insight to measurable community impact. Serving as an enterprise orchestrator and strategic thought partner, the Senior Director connects community voice, data, policy, advocacy, medical, access, commercial, communications, legal, finance, and other relevant capabilities. The role builds trusted partnerships, establishes governance and measurement approaches, identifies barriers to execution, and ensures initiatives remain aligned with patient needs, business priorities, responsible engagement standards, and BMS objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Population Health Strategy and Portfolio Leadership
  • Own the translation of enterprise population health priorities into a focused portfolio of multi-year flagship initiatives, with clear problem statements, target populations, strategic objectives, value propositions, and intended outcomes.
  • Conduct and synthesize landscape assessments across patient needs, care barriers, community infrastructure, policy, evidence, market dynamics, and existing programs to identify where BMS can make a differentiated contribution.
  • Recommend portfolio priorities, sequencing, resource allocation, and course corrections based on strategic fit, feasibility, unmet need, potential for scale, and expected patient and community value.
  • Provide senior-level counsel on population health considerations, ensuring community needs and access implications are integrated into enterprise and therapeutic-area planning.
• Flagship Initiative Design and Execution
  • Lead end-to-end development and implementation of flagship initiatives, from concept and partner selection through contracting, launch, performance monitoring, scaling, and sustainability planning.
  • Build integrated action plans that define outcomes, workstreams, milestones, decision points, dependencies, risks, roles, required capabilities, and resource needs.
  • Orchestrate matrixed teams across Medical, Patient Advocacy, Policy and Government Affairs, Access, Commercial, Analytics, Communications, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other relevant functions.
  • Anticipate and resolve execution barriers, facilitate timely decisions, and maintain momentum across complex programs with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• External Partnerships and Community Engagement
  • Advance community-based models that expand access to screening, monitoring, navigation, education, specialty care, and appropriate services in medically underserved geographies.
  • Identify, assess, and cultivate high-value relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, professional associations, healthcare providers, technology partners, and other cross-sector collaborators.
  • Co-create programs with partners and community stakeholders so that lived experience, local context, cultural relevance, and implementation realities shape program design and delivery.
  • Define partnership objectives, roles, deliverables, governance, funding approach, success measures, and escalation pathways; monitor performance and address gaps with partners and internal teams.
  • Represent BMS in external forums and partner engagements, communicating the company’s population health strategy and building trust through consistent, transparent, and responsible engagement.
• Communications, Reputation, and Thought Leadership
  • Partner with Communications and relevant functions to develop accurate, compelling narratives that demonstrate the strategy, progress, outcomes, and lessons of BMS population health initiatives.
  • Ensure external communications are evidence-based, coordinated, community-sensitive, and consistent with the company’s broader objectives and responsible business commitments.
  • Monitor emerging research, policy developments, stakeholder expectations, and leading practices in population health and population health; translate relevant developments into implications for the portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities to share learnings, elevate partner voices, and strengthen BMS credibility as a collaborative, outcomes-oriented partner in advancing equitable access to care.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public health, healthcare, business, policy, or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare, life sciences, public health, population health, patient access, corporate affairs, medical affairs, strategy, or a related field, including significant experience leading population health or community-based initiatives.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, enterprise-wide programs in highly matrixed environments and translating strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
• Deep understanding of health disparities, social and structural drivers of health, access barriers, community engagement, and the healthcare ecosystem.
• Experience building cross-sector partnerships and engaging senior executives, healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, community leaders, policymakers, and other external stakeholders.
• Strong business judgment and analytical capability, including experience with business cases, budgets, metrics, risk management, performance reporting, and resource prioritization.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues, influence without authority, and tailor messages for executive, partner, and community audiences.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, cultural humility, attention to detail, learning agility, and composure in handling sensitive or high-visibility matters.

Princeton - NJ - US: $225,170 - $272,847

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs. Eligible employees also enjoy an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
