Senior Associate, PX, GWE, Asset Lifecycle Management Lead

ROLE SUMMARY
The Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) Lead is responsible for the systematic tracking, installation, and removal of laboratory equipment throughout the entire lifecycle, from acquisition through deployment, maintenance, and final disposal. Operating within an R&D environment, this role facilitates asset preplanning, site assessments, and ensures all asset-related activities are documented, tracked, and compliant with regulatory standards. By optimizing equipment usage, managing inventory, coordinating maintenance, and driving process improvements, the ALM supports efficient and safe laboratory operations while controlling costs and enabling the lab for evolving technological requirements.  This is to include but not be limited to supporting the regular updates and reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Registry (FAR) and physical inventory field activities.

 

With input from both the customer equipment owner and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), this role will develop the correct service program for assets within EAMS (Enterprise Asset Management System) or Pfizer’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).  Additionally, this position will be responsible for the documentation of asset maintenance activities within EAMS and support site EAMS administration requiring the review of training requirements and On the Job Training (OJT) for new resources requiring system access.

 

The Asset Lifecycle Manager will also represent the site on various Global Workplace Experience (GWE) Communities of Practice or multi-site or global teams ensuring best practices and standards are being leveraged across the broader R&D portfolio.

 

This position will foster and maintain working relationships with GWE, Preclinical & Translational Sciences (P&TS) Research and business operations team colleague and contractors to analyze needs, provide recommendations, and execute plans and options that align with overall GWE goals and supported business line objectives and strategies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Utilize systems and processes to optimize and document the entire lifecycle for laboratory assets beginning with the customer request for a new or transferred asset to the ultimate retirement and decontamination/transfer/disposal of the asset

• Provide oversight and guidance for required scheduling, data and information for colleague and contractor resources providing asset installation and preventive/corrective maintenance

• Issue and tag assets with the EAMS identifier and document asset maintenance and service activities in EAMS

• Manage the inventory of inactive or idle assets ensuring an accurate inventory, compliant storage and disposal through auction sale or site transfer when appropriate

• Work with other GWE colleagues to develop common practices across sites with a goal of process improvements with the onboarding, tracking and utilization of assets

• Enhance department and organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

• Update job knowledge by participating in internal and external training opportunities; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

• Support business strategies with requested reporting and data analytics to reduce annual operating costs and increase the return on capital investment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

• Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a master's degree with more than 0+ years of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience.

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience with the service and maintenance of analytical instrumentation in a research & development laboratory environment

• Demonstrated experience with vendor management to coordinate the installation and logistical services to onboard assets

• Experience with maintenance and/or inventory systems in the regulated pharmaceutical industry in a laboratory or other setting

• Familiar with a laboratory environment and common laboratory equipment and instrumentation

• Proficient with vendor management and the ability to optimize service strategies when balancing the level, quality and cost of delivered services

• Skilled with participation in cross functional teams with membership of various skillsets and capabilities

• Skilled in elements of project management including planning, executing and managing projects of various complexity and size

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, technology or related field of study
• Experience with basic capitalization and accounting processes including fixed asset registries, depreciation and asset lifecycle principles

• Demonstrated computer skills; Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (EAMS Pfizer specific)
  

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraints.  On a daily basis, the position responsibilities may require the ability to stoop; to reach; to stand, to walk and sit for extended periods of time; to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 30 pounds; to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation; to use finger dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment and hand strength to grasp objects; to perceive the attributes of objects by touch; to hear and verbally exchange ideas and information with colleagues and others on the phone and in the office; to see clearly from less than one foot to arm’s length with a good field of vision and to distinguish basic colors and shades of color.  On a frequent basis, essential duties of the position may require the ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, to kneel and/or crouch to retrieve items.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Day shift with occasional after hours or weekend response for onsite support associated with facility incidents or excursions or planned shutdowns for maintenance and/or capital and expense project execution

• Respond as required to the site in support of business continuity and emergency events

• Periodic travel may be required in support of GWSS business requirements

• Entry and work inside cGMP laboratories, high containment laboratories, pilot plants, aseptic manufacturing spaces, mechanical/electrical rooms, maintenance shops, shipping and receiving and service corridors.  While working in these areas, strict adherence to aseptic gowning and procedures and personal protective equipment will be required as applicable.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,500.00 to $147,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
