Summary
Regional Scientific Exchange Lead – MENA Eurasia provides strategic medical leadership across the region for the innovative portfolio, driving scientific excellence, patient-centered initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize patient impact and support organizational priorities. The role serves as a key regional partner to emerging markets regional, global and affiliate stakeholders, translating global medical strategy into regionally and locally relevant, actionable and executable plans across diverse healthcare environments.
The position reports directly to the MENA Eurasia Regional Medical Lead and is expected to operate effectively within a highly matrixed multinational organization. The Regional Scientific Exchange Lead demonstrates strong leadership through influence, with the ability to navigate complex matrix environments and foster effective cross-functional collaboration. The role also provides coaching, mentorship, and scientific guidance to affiliate medical teams and key stakeholders to strengthen regional medical capabilities, promote scientific excellence, and support the development of a high-performing medical organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Medical Leadership
Lead the development and execution of local and regional medical innovation strategies aligned with global priorities and regional healthcare needs.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with regional and international key external experts, scientific societies, and healthcare stakeholders.
Drive medical input into launch readiness, lifecycle management, and evidence generation activities for innovative therapies.
Anticipate evolving scientific trends, competitive dynamics, and unmet patient needs to shape future medical direction.
Scientific Excellence
Serve as a regional scientific expert, a key point of contact and trusted advisor for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure high-quality scientific exchange and evidence-based medical communication across the region.
Effectively communicate and manage drug safety issues and foster strong partnerships with HCPs to support medical and scientific collaboration.
Generate actionable medical insights to inform regional and global strategy.
Represent Medical Affairs at regional congresses, advisory boards, and external scientific forums.
Evidence Generation & Innovation
Identify opportunities to advance patient care through innovative medical initiatives, digital solutions, and partnership models.
Contribute to the development and execution of regional and in-country clinical plans. Support clinical research activities, including study feasibility, site identification, and coordination, while ensuring compliance with regulations and Viatris policies.
Lead regional evidence-generation strategies, including real-world evidence initiatives and investigator-sponsored research.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Local/Regional/Global Medical teams to ensure aligned execution of strategic priorities.
Operate effectively within a complex matrix organization, influencing decisions across multiple stakeholders and geographies.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and medical excellence across affiliate teams.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure all activities adhere to Viatris’ business policies, SOPs, applicable regulations, and ethical standards.
Facilitate expanded access programs and named patient supply initiatives in alignment with ethical and legal standards.
Provide training to internal teams
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
Education: Medical Doctor, Doctorate, or Bachelor’s in Medicine, or a Clinical Pharmacist
Minimum 10 years of medical affairs experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company
Fluency in English; desirable to have fluency in another local language.
Ability to travel across the region is a requirement.
