Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Location: Verviers

The role:
The Quality Control (QC) Manager, will supervise the QC site support team to ensure the timely release of finished products and raw materials while maintaining full compliance with Lonza quality standards. You will oversee product testing and release activities, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and technical guidance across the team. A key part of the role involves providing strong technical support by analysing out‑of‑spec results, directing investigations, and defining clear technical pathways. You will also be responsible for developing and mentoring a team of 15–20 technicians, strengthening their autonomy in managing investigations, CAPAs, and equipment maintenance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

The full‑time annual base pay for this position in Belgium is expected to range between €84,000 and €117,600. Initial salary placement within this range will be determined based on role‑related factors such as experience, qualifications, and expected contribution.
What you will do:
Lead and organise the QC department to ensure efficient operations and timely product and raw‑material release.
Oversee analytical testing activities, including method performance, validation, data recording, and trend analysis.
Manage and develop the QC training programme to build technical capability and ensure compliance.
Supervise QC review and approval processes prior to Quality Assurance release, including OOS investigations and CAPA implementation.
Oversee change controls, equipment maintenance, calibration activities, and non‑conformance management within the department.
Manage relationships with subcontracted laboratories and ensure robust monitoring of QC metrics and performance indicators.
Develop staff through mentoring, knowledge‑building, and SOP creation/revision while managing departmental budgets.
What we are looking for:
A BSc or a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field.
Fluency in English and French.
Strong laboratory experience with QC methodologies in chemistry and microbiology; experience in sterility testing, GPT, mycoplasma testing, microbial identification, environmental monitoring, bioburden, endotoxin testing, cleaning validation, or growth promotion is a strong asset.
Proven leadership and team‑management experience, with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop technical staff.
Solid understanding of GMP and ISO standards, with demonstrated experience managing complex tasks and projects.
Working knowledge of SAP and TrackWise is an advantage.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
