Product Safety – Manager
Location: Hyderabad, India
As a Product Safety Manager, you will analyze health and environmental hazards of products throughout their life cycle to ensure compliance with market and manufacturing site regulations. You will document hazard assessments in SAP EHS/S4HANA, author Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and provide hazard communications aligned with evolving global regulations. This role is critical in supporting Lonza’s compliance, marketability, and product safety initiatives.
Hazard Classification: Perform hazard classifications according to GHS, Dangerous Goods, and local chemical regulations to ensure safe market entry of products.
SDS & Label Management: Author and manage regionally compliant SDS and label elements for Lonza customers and employees.
Regulatory Monitoring: Analyze and update data and tools based on regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with evolving requirements.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensure provision of mandatory documents such as SDS, label information, DG classifications, and marketability reports in SAP EHS/S4HANA.
Regulatory Strategy: Develop and implement chemical control regulation strategies and documentation to comply with local market requirements (e.g., REACH, TSCA).
System Utilization: Evaluate and implement activities required by stakeholders using SAP EHS, including Product Safety, Labelling, Logistics, and Trade Compliance.
Business Support: Respond to business and customer inquiries regarding product regulatory standing and provide training on compliance and marketability concerns.
Product Development Support: Assist in developing new products and securing agreements with third-party suppliers.
Subject Matter Expertise: Act as SME for product safety in cross-functional business projects.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support product safety and compliance initiatives.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Pharmaceutical Science.
Master’s degree or higher preferred.
5–10 years of experience in regulatory, chemical, or biological industries.
5–10 years of experience with SAP EHS/S4HANA.
Certifications & Language
Dangerous Goods regulation certification for transport and storage (IATA and regional authorities).
Business fluency in English and German.
Skills & Attributes
Strong knowledge of SAP, Excel, and regulatory authority-mandated software.
Project planning and organizational skills.
Hands-on approach with willingness to learn and adapt.
Team-oriented mindset with expertise in Environmental, Biological, Chemical, Regulatory, IT, or analytical tools.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
