Implement the Operational Excellence initiatives crafted to meet or exceed the key performance indicators such as revenue, EBITDA, Right-First Time (quality), customer experience, and timely Delivery as well as improving Organizational Health. You will apply operational excellence tools to achieve process improvement.

Day in the Life:

You will join the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) team (Continuous Improvement), tasked to promote lean principles and operational excellence standard methodologies across all functions, driving the company's dedication to excellence. You will:

  • Apply Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate and drive the Thermo Fisher values – Integrity, Intensity, Involvement, and Innovation (The Four I’s)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of duties related to the company.
  • Own continuous improvement through Operational Excellence
  • Lead by example, embodying our 4 core i values, dedication to our customers.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a robust funnel of continuous improvement activities that yield performance and fiscal benefit for the business.
  • Work with Site leaders and critical stakeholders to build an action-biased culture of continuous improvement and accountability to improve growth, productivity, quality, and customer experience.
  • Directly lead continuous improvement activities,  business health assessments, Just Do Its, workshops, kaizens, and projects, using various methodologies, tools and systems such as: lean, six sigma, pull manufacturing, total productive maintenance, waste reduction, Lean Leadership, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Blitz, Cell Design, Flow dynamics, 5S, Visual Management, 3P and various diagnostic tools, etc.
  • Work closely with Finance and Project sponsors to gain alignment on the final impact of project; collaborate with colleagues and partners to implement an operational excellence plan that supports site, business unit, and Thermo Fisher Scientific strategies.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Keys to Success:

Education:

  • Degree in Science, Project Management, Engineering, or Business.

Experience

3 years’ experience in a regulated work environment in the areas of Operations, Quality, or Continuous Improvement

Preferred experience, skills & abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, partnership and rapport building skills
  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Proven track record of driving cross functional teams to solve problems and implement sustainable improvements within the organization

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to stand continuously (95%-100%) 
  • Must be able to walk frequently (50% - 79%) 
  • Must be able to sit (up to 49%) 
  • Must be able to lift and or carry the max of 50 pounds frequently (50%-79%) 
  • Must be able to bend frequently (50%-79%) 
  • Must be able to squat (up to 49%) 
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level essentially (80%-94%) 
  • Must be able to use both right and left hand for repetitive action, simple grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation essentially (80%-94%) 
  • Must be able to use both the right and left foot for repetitive action occasionally (up to 49%) 
  • Must be able to work in both temperature-controlled, cold and frozen, environments.
