Medical Science Liaison- Genetic Counselor - Rare Disease

Labcorp Genetics and Women's Health (GWH) has a great opportunity for a field-based Genetic Counselor. This Medical Science Liaison (MSL) position will work within a diverse team of field-based MSLs and serve as a scientific and clinical expert between Labcorp Cardiology/Neurology and Rare disease business and key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), major medical associations and academic centers through the dissemination, clarification and education of pertinent scientific and clinical information, primarily related to rare disease

This position will cover the central region, including Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska, employing both in person visits when required as well as virtual meetings. Travel is primarily within the US, but some international travel could also be needed. Travel will likely be up to 50%, including client meetings and 2-3 educational conferences per year. The ideal candidate will reside in one of these states.

The Medical Science Liaison establishes long-term science-based relationships with KOLs that help to ensure access to current, accurate and relevant scientific information through the process of education via one-on-one interactions, small group discussion, and presentations. The MSL also interacts with payers, local HCPs and consultants, investigators and collaborators as well as various groups within the company, including, Sales, Marketing, Research/Development, and Clinical. The MSL also serves as an expert resource on Labcorp Genetics and rare disease products and associated disease states. 

Responsibilities:

• Work within a diverse team of field based MSLs to provide educational support to providers, payers, and advocates on products and rare disease testing offered through Labcorp
• Thought Leader Development: Serves as a liaison between Labcorp and high level KOLs, to develop and build strategic relationships.
• Work with contacts outside of the company including health care providers, investigators and collaborators, influential clinicians, KOLs, and advisory boards, as appropriate.
• Serve as an expert resource and provide educational support for the field sales group and other internal partners on Labcorp rare disease broad range of products including but not limited to Cardiology, Neurology, Immunology, rare disease and other panels included in our rare disease offerings.
• Work with payer and insurer Medical Directors as well as professional organization guideline committee members to assure that products are appropriately described for usage and coverage.
• In collaboration with marketing, develop multi-channel medical educational activities and tools including speaker programs, slide decks, CME events, etc.
• Participate in training of the rare sales team and collaborate with the scientific communications liaison to create appropriate content.
• Attend scientific conferences and complete meeting summaries for senior leadership and marketing purposes
• Participate in product development conversations and messaging

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics
• American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification
• 2 years or more clinical genetic counseling experience
• 1 year or more clinical genetic counseling experience within rare diseases specialty

Additional Job Standards:

• Familiarity with key aspects of Rare disease market, with working knowledge of molecular diagnostic technologies

• Ability to travel (up to 50%), work from home office (50%). Overnight travel averages 2-3 nights/week. Work from your own home office when not traveling to meet with clinicians
• Highly organized, including excellent time management skills
• Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office

**Salary Range: $120,000 -$155,000 / year

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.
