Job Summary and Scope/Accountability
The main purpose of this position is to provide field‑based medical and scientific leadership to drive medical knowledge and support informed healthcare decision‑making through high‑quality scientific exchange within the assigned territory:
- Field role based in Barcelona. Area to cover: NorthEast of Spain
- Provides field-based medical / scientific expertise ensuring understanding of the disease areas and Biogen’s products as appropriate.
- Builds valued constructive partnerships with key stakeholders in the medical community and the healthcare system.
- Contributes to company success through both internal and external medical education and scientific exchange and support.
- Utilizes medical / scientific expertise to generate high-quality medical insights and support research/data-generation initiatives.
- Contributes to pre‑launch medical activities by supporting scientific stakeholder mapping, identifying unmet needs, and contributing to system readiness planning ahead of future launches.
- Minimum 60% field dedication.

Principal Responsibilities
- Facilitate medical and scientific information exchange with the medical community on the diseases in focus through compliant and legitimate interactions with HCPs (clinical presentations, 1:1 interaction, coordination of peer-to peer meetings, etc.).
- Disseminate high quality complex scientific information and provide legitimate and innovative medical education content aligned with the regional/ affiliate medical education concept.
- Gather medical insights, provide key learnings to the Medical team on regular basis as appropriate.
- Lead and continuously update scientific stakeholder mapping and disease landscape analysis as part of pre‑launch activities, generating actionable insights to inform medical and cross‑functional strategy.
- Support pre‑launch system readiness by assessing clinical practice, care pathways and educational needs within the healthcare system, and sharing insights with internal stakeholders.
- Support therapeutic experts in developing concepts and protocols for RWE studies and registries that support business strategy and ensures its proper internal management.
- Provides expertise to HCPs and other stakeholders who wish to present data on Biogen disease areas and related products.
- Support the development and implementation of the internal training plan, monitor the plan and update knowledge of disease areas.
- Supports national and international medical projects in the country, strategically engaging internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate leadership in working collaboratively and in total alignment with the disease cross functional team (i.e. Market Access, Area manager, Disease Brand teams, etc.) ensuring the successful implementation of the company’s overall strategy and objectives.
- Stay up to date with therapy advances, current research, medical scientific knowledge and detailed knowledge on Biogen products and disease areas.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical or scientific qualification. Advanced degree is preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty), or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 5 years of MSL Medical Affairs experience in the pharma industry
- Working with in-hospital treatments experience required
- Strong medical/scientific experience in immune‑mediated diseases, particularly in nephrology
- Pre-Launch experience preferred
- Native Spanish speaker. Good understanding of business English and fluent Catalan preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of the Compliance environment, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Drug Safety, and Legal
- Experience working in a matrix environment with high level of autonomy
- Strong adaptability and flexibility to navigate shifting priorities while maintaining focus on strategic and stakeholder needs
- Scientific acumen: Strong technical skills with demonstrated mastery in data comprehension and critical appraisal, synthesis, interpretation and delivery of data / information in order to conduct a productive medical/ scientific exchange
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (scientific and non-scientific)
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in total alignment with the commercial group
- Strong ability to build partnerships with opinion leaders based on scientific acumen
- Is able to ascertain customer/client needs and demonstrate a strong orientation towards customer service
- High level of planning and organizational skills
