Title: Predictive RF Power Amplifier Phase & Gain Correction and Control

Context: Arbitrary RF pulse generator and RF power amplifier for excitation of nuclei as step in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Your role:

You will join the MRI organization within Philips Precision Diagnosis. The team consists of software, hardware, firmware, and test engineers working together on MRI system components. You will also collaborate with specialists in RF digital control loops and have access to AI experts for model selection and development.

  • Work on a complex MRI hardware product in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

  • Gain an in‑depth understanding of real‑time control aspects of RF systems and modern edge‑AI control approaches.

  • Translate high‑level ideas into clear technical requirements and design concepts.

  • Build measurement setups (hardware and software) to collect amplifier data.

  • Explore and develop predictive models (such as neural networks) for RF predistortion.

  • Adapt and extend FPGA/firmware on the TCI3 hardware module.

  • Implement a software‑in‑the‑loop setup connected to RF hardware.

  • Validate prototype behavior, analyze results, and document findings.

  • Work with tools such as Vivado, MATLAB, Python, Vitis, Questasim, and AI‑modeling frameworks.

B) Hard Skills

Bachelor level (Electrical Engineering focus):

  • Experience with FPGA design and VHDL.

  • Basic understanding of RF systems.

  • Scripting/programming experience (e.g., Python).

Master level (Computer Science / Engineering focus):

  • Experience with AI / Machine Learning methodologies.

  • Knowledge of neural networks, MATLAB, Vitis, FPGA concepts, and Python.

  • Basic understanding of RF hardware behavior.

C) Language

  • Good English communication skills.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

  • Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.

  • Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord, and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours.

  • Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192,- net

  • Paid holidays per internship term.

  • The opportunity to buy Philips equipment at our Philips shop
