The Head of Procurement is accountable for the global Source to Pay (S2P) process and for driving worldclass sourcing across all third-party spend categories.
Source‑to‑Pay (S2P)
The Head of Procurement establishes and maintains a simplified, integrated, and scalable third‑party operating model. This includes ownership of a unified S2P framework that delivers:
Operational efficiency and agility
Cost competitiveness
Clear governance and compliance
Seamless cross‑functional partnership across argenx
Global Sourcing
The Head of Procurement will play a role in all sourcing strategies for all third party arrangements:
Responsible for the development and execution of standardized sourcing strategies for all non-strategic third‑party arrangements
Collaborates closely with argenx owners of strategic partnerships (strategic sourcing and alliance leads embedded in the business), and business leads, to ensure customized back end solutions for strategic vendors and vendors that are also customers (eg IIP, hospitals)
Implementing a consistent sourcing operating model with a tailored framework for strategic and breakthrough partnership categories
Leadership & Collaboration
This leader fosters a culture in which working with external vendor partners is a core enabler of:
Organizational scale
Cost optimization
Risk and compliance excellence
Innovation and speed
The role requires deep partnership with Legal, Compliance, R&D, Commercial, Clinical Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Technical Operations. Strong engagement with business stakeholders ensures procurement excellence, sustainability, and long‑term business value.
Source‑to‑Pay (S2P) Operating Model
Establish a centralized and governed S2P operating model with clear RACI, standardized processes, and consistent controls.
Partner with Digital and cross-functional stakeholders to deploy enabling technology and tools that support a fully integrated and simplified S2P workflow.
Sourcing, Supplier & Risk Management
Implement a standardized sourcing operating model for all third‑party arrangements, with a tailored framework for strategic and breakthrough partnership categories.
Collaborate closely with argenx owners of strategic partnerships—including CDMOs, CROs, and other key suppliers—to ensure alignment with innovation priorities.
Develop and maintain robust risk mitigation plans to address supply chain disruptions, resilience needs, and evolving regulatory requirements.
Oversee supplier relationship management and ensure adherence to global procurement policies and performance expectations.
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute global sourcing and category strategies aligned with enterprise objectives, market conditions, and stakeholder needs.
Drive cost efficiency while ensuring high quality, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Champion best practices in procurement, including supplier diversity, sustainability, ethical sourcing, and responsible business conduct.
Promote business model innovation and co‑creation opportunities with core vendor partners to unlock value and accelerate growth.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all sourcing and procurement activities comply with global regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
Embed sustainable, ethical, and transparent sourcing practices across the supplier base.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Finance, Legal, and other functions to ensure sourcing strategies align with business priorities and development timelines.
Enable seamless cross‑functional ways of working that support efficiency, partnership, and procurement excellence.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical, financial, and business acumen.
Outstanding negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence and communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
Proficiency with digital procurement platforms, supply chain analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Change management and process improvement expertise, with a track record of driving business process change.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and customer service abilities.
Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience with global sourcing for biologics and advanced therapies.
Experienced with digital procurement tools and analytics platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field required.
MBA or advanced degree with a focus on Supply Chain/Procurement preferred.
15+ years of progressive strategic and operational procurement experience, with at least 7 years in leadership roles within the biotech/pharma industry or other highly regulated sectors.
Deep expertise in biologics, clinical supply chains, and regulated environments.
Extensive knowledge of category management, supplier relationship management, and advanced sourcing methodologies.
Proven experience managing large, senior procurement teams and working in complex global environments.
