About the Job

The Head of AATD Marketing is the senior marketing leader for Sanofi's Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency franchise, accountable for brand strategy, commercial execution, and cross-functional orchestration across the AATD portfolio, including the launch readiness for new AATD assets. Alpha 1 is estimated to achieve 4B in revenue at peak.

This role uniquely combines marketing team leadership in addition to setting strategy for a dedicated TLL (Thought Leader Liaison) organization, ensuring tight alignment between strategic brand direction and field-based execution. The Head of AATD Marketing serves as the primary strategic partner to the GM, U.S., Global and cross-functional U.S. leadership, while representing the voice of the customer (HCPs, patients, KOLs, and patient advocacy groups) into brand planning.

Main Responsibilities

Marketing & Brand Leadership

• Own brand vision, strategy, forecasting, and demand signal for the AATD portfolio
• Lead the US team in the execution of a highly digital/AI driven launch impacting the patient and HCP journey, treating LLMs as a customer
• Lead, develop, and manage the AATD marketing team, including Account/Acct Marketing, Patient Experience, Product Strategy, Digital/AI Innovation, and Congresses/Speaker Bureau functions
• Direct brand planning, campaign and messaging strategy, and KPI development/tracking across account and patient workstreams
• Lead launch readiness and go-to-market orchestration for new AATD
• Serve as external liaison to KOLs and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs)

 

TLL Strategy

• Ensure seamless integration between TLL field activity and marketing strategy, acting as the connective tissue between HQ brand strategy and local/regional execution
• Partner with Sales/Field Leadership to align TLL deployment with account planning, KOL engagement, and market access priorities
• Establish governance rhythms and communication cadences between the marketing organization and the TLL organization to ensure consistent field messaging and rapid feedback loops from the field into brand strategy

 

Governance & Cross-Functional Partnership

• Lead program governance including core teams, LRRs (Launch Readiness Reviews), ELC, SPC Leadership Team, and NALT meetings
• Act as strategic partner to Global and U.S. cross-functional leadership, including Commercial Operations, Market Access, Medical, Regulatory, and Communications
• Partner with PAPA (Patient Advocacy/Programs) leadership on compliant patient engagement program (PEP) execution
• Liaise with Global brand teams to ensure alignment between U.S. execution and global strategy

 

Team & People Leadership

• Manage and develop a multi-disciplinary marketing team (Product Strategy, Account Marketing, Patient Experience, AI/Digital Innovation, Speaker Bureau, Health Systems)
• Build organizational capability, talent pipeline, and culture across both the marketing and TLL organizations
• Manage budget, resourcing, and operational excellence for the AATD marketing function

 

About You

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech marketing experience, including rare disease, specialty, or orphan drug marketing
• Proven experience managing or closely partnering with field-based teams (TLLs, KAMs, or similar liaison roles)
• Demonstrated success leading product launches, ideally in rare disease or specialty markets
• Strong track record of people leadership and cross-functional influence at senior levels
• Experience with patient advocacy engagement and KOL/PAG relationship management
• Familiarity with digital/AI-enabled marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Veeva, CRM, digital "find and switch" initiatives) a plus

The salary range for this position is:

$232,500.00 - $335,833.33
