Job Description Summary:
The Executive Director, Global Marketing will be in a critical position working with cross functional teams, global, regional, local, and corporate leadership to advance care in the rare disease community and drive PTC’s commercial success. Specifically, this position will be responsible for pre-launch planning and market preparation to launch a differentiated, durable and disruptive therapy in for Fabry disease
This position is responsible for the development and execution of global marketing strategies and tactics for PTC’s current and future product portfolio as assigned to them.
He/She collaborates closely with the cross-functional teams/individuals, and is accountable for the development and execution of strategic and tactical marketing plans in line with strategic input. The Executive Director, Global Marketing also ensures cross-regional messaging and branding consistency and alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
The Executive Director, Global Strategic Marketing ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.
He/she may manage direct reports, e.g. a Product Manager and/or Marketing Manager.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Driving successful global strategies that leverage competitive advantages and have customer focus
- Understanding the challenges, growth opportunities and the most relevant market trends to translate these into marketing initiatives
- Providing marketing leadership role to cross-functional teams and countries, and partnering closely with the US Brand Lead to align on strategic direction for this important market
- Working with stakeholder partners in Medical Affairs (and in particular the Global Therapeutic Area Lead), Marketing, Market Access, Patient engagement regional and country leadership, Distribution and Finance to optimize commercial success for the near term and future product launches
- Ensuring country alignment on marketing strategies and execution excellence via strong global-country network as well as monitoring countries’ plans and performance to provide support and drive best practice sharing
- Developing the Global communication platform including key elements of positioning, messaging, value proposition, creative campaign, and promotional pieces
- Creating and implementing global cross functional educational initiatives (e.g. symposia, speaker’s bureau, stand-alone events) to raise disease awareness, increase patient identification, and drive brand adoption
- Leading cross functional planning and supporting execution of HCP and patient market research and advisory board meetings to gain actionable market and customer insights
- Building relationships with key external stakeholder to advance strategic results
- Creating a robust tactical plan based on strategic imperatives and critical success factors, drive excellence in executing global programs and measure their success
- Managing external agencies to ensure execution of marketing programs aligned with brand strategy objectives
- Ensuring timely and efficient review of promotional materials and complying fully with all legal, regulatory, ethical, and company guidelines
- Leading a culture of compliance, integrity, and transparency
- Managing the operating budget(s) and initiating corrective measures as appropriate
- Performing other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Global Marketing and/or other relevant strategic functions
- Launching and managing competitive products globally in complex rare disease markets
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree; Master in Science or MBA preferred
- Demonstrated track record of success supporting the marketing and commercialization of an orphan, rare disease and/or specialized drug(s) that requires the development and execution of unique sales and marketing strategies
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing brand plans
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to anticipate issues and respond quickly, flexibly and creatively to solve problems and address commercial market challenges
- Previous experience in collaborating and working with patient organizations
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication and skills
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred.
- Experience working in a small but fast growing, entrepreneurial environment
- Attention to detail, willingness to execute on all levels of activity with a positive attitude and ability to motivate all levels of the organization
- A good communicator with excellent verbal and writing skills, with the ability to present publicly to large and small audiences alike
- Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated experience to keep to timelines and budgets
Travel requirements: 30 - 40%
Expected Base Salary Range: $242,600 – $305,400. The base salary offered will be contingent on assessment of candidate education level, background, and experience relative to the requirements of the position they are being considered for, as well as review of internal equity.
In addition to base salary, PTC employees are also eligible for short- and long-term incentives. All eligible employees may also enroll in PTC’s medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans
