Roles Available in Location: GSK HQ

Education required:  Please read the degree requirements for each role carefully before applying.

Other requirements:  You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement.

Duration: 1 year (approximately)

Salary:  A salary of £28,900 plus a bonus.

Role 1 - Business Performance & Operations

Degree Requirement – Life Sciences related subject

Overview of the Department

The DGSC's mission is to transform data into decisive actions that shapes the future of patient care. To achieve this, DGSC focuses on four strategic objectives. First, Differentiate Asset Value (Evidence Generation) by producing timely and meaningful data that enable confident, high-impact decisions. Second, Strengthen Scientific Advocacy (Scientific Communications) through personalized engagement, leveraging data-driven and insight-rich narratives and content to enhance the impact of scientific communications. Third, Inspire Trust in Content (Medical Information and Content Approval) by building credibility and ensuring integrity through transparent and compliant content. Finally, Drive Medical Impact (Operations) by streamlining processes and adopting smart, tech-enabled ways of working to unlock efficiency and maximize impact. Together, these objectives ensure DGSC delivers on its mission to improve patient care through data-driven innovation.

Key Placement Learnings

• Develop strategic materials, including the Data Generation and Scientific Communications (DGSC) objectives and performance targets.

• Support performance management and reporting demonstrating transformational progress and impact.

• Build and manage an internal communications and engagement plan to support DGSC delivering with impact and sustaining performance.

• Co-ordinate and/or deliver communications and engagement activities and events.

• Support operational excellence through streamlining processes including through smart, tech-enabled ways of working.

• •Effective communication in a business context, including structuring materials that engage the audience and convey a compelling narrative.

Role 2 - Study Delivery Lead Support

Degree Requirement – Science related discipline

Overview of the Department

The Supported Studies department partners across therapy areas and functions to operationalize externally supported research as part of an integrated study team. We drive our part of the process by coordinating proposals, data, systems, governance, and delivery activities to help ensure high-quality studies are executed efficiently, compliantly, and with clear accountability. Through close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the team enables evidence generation that supports scientific understanding, informs future treatment approaches, and ultimately helps improve outcomes for patients.

Key Placement Learnings

• Clinical Funding Proposal Administrative Support: Assisting with coordination of CFPs including coordinating slide creation, scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and follow-up to ensure Proposal Review Form completion. May also assist with completion of due diligence and other necessary proposal review steps.

• Supporting external system updates and UAT validation of system changes.

• Data Management: Assisting with data entry, consolidation, and reporting tasks to ensure accuracy and timely entry of data. Leading monthly spot-checks on system data to ensure accuracy of data. 

• Project Support: Contributing to specific projects within the Supported Studies portfolio, such as portfolio reporting, process optimization, resource planning, or compliance-related activities.

• Team Support: Providing day-to-day operational assistance to reduce administrative burden on permanent team members, allowing them to focus on strategic priorities.

Role 3 – Global Medical Information & Content Approval

Degree requirements: Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Healthcare Sciences, Business Management or related

Overview of the Department

GSK's Global Medical Information & Content Approval (MI&CA) team plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant, and high-quality medical information and scientific content across the product lifecycle. The Industrial Placement Student will support medical content creation and review in Oncology/Specialty therapy area and strategic projects across Medical Information, Content Governance, Operational Excellence, and Digital Transformation while gaining exposure to a broad network of stakeholders across GSK.

Key Placement Activities

• Develop medical information content and assist in content approval in Oncology/Specialty therapy areas to ensuring content is scientifically balanced, evidence-based, up to date and meets the scientific needs of customers to help inform clinical care.

• Support projects that enhance Medical Information and Content Approval processes and ways of working.

• Contribute to content governance, quality, and compliance initiatives.

• Support business performance reporting, data analysis, and insight generation.

• Assist with digital and AI-enabled transformation projects.

• Develop presentations, communications, training materials, and business updates.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across Medical, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, and Digital & Technology functions.

Role 4 – Global Scientific Communications

Degree requirements: Biomedical Sciences or other life sciences degrees

Overview of the Department

Global Scientific Communications is part of the Chief Patient Officer organisation and is responsible for bringing GSK's scientific strategies to life. We create innovative and engaging ways to communicate evidence, turning complex scientific data into meaningful stories that resonate with healthcare professionals and other audiences.

By combining analytical insights with digital innovation, we deliver personalised scientific content that helps people make informed healthcare decisions. This placement offers a unique opportunity to see how global healthcare communications are developed and to build valuable skills in science communication, content creation, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Placement Learnings

• Assist with pipeline communication materials, such as supporting development and delivery of pipeline displays and congress booth content.

• Support coordination of congress-related activities across Oncology Scientific Communications.

• Coordinate operational activities with agencies and internal teams, including follow-up actions, tracking deliverables, and supporting content review processes.

• Content strategy – understanding how content supports business objectives and audience needs.

• Communication skills – crafting clear, engaging messages for different audiences.

• Stakeholder management – collaborating with diverse teams and balancing priorities.

• Data and insights – using metrics and feedback to improve content effectiveness.

• Process improvement – identifying efficiencies and helping optimise ways of working.

• Project management – planning, coordinating and delivering work to deadlines. .
