The CI Champion is a CI subject matter expert with sufficient training to be able to lead the CI process and CI projects. This role is dedicated to Continuous Improvement (CI) to one or multiple PCT(s), with in-depth knowledge of the work processes and workflows within the assigned PCT(s).
The primary role of the CI Champion is to be the change agent within the plant to drive, coach, lead and support IMEx deployment and immersion as well as driving a CI culture. CI champions shall have strong technical or operational backgrounds of the assigned function (PCT) with the passion for continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities
· Install, mature and sustain IMEx elements to the assigned Process Centric Team (s) (PCT)
· Own the Tier 1 CI process, including leading the Tier 1 CI meeting, updating the CI board and coordinating CI project prioritization
· Develop and maintain the CI board
· Own and contribute to CI projects at Tier 2 CI meeting
· Analyze data from data collection systems to help set daily, weekly and monthly prioritization and escalation decisions by the Process Centric Team Lead and to create the Pareto of losses as a key input to the Tier 1 CI meeting
· Serve as the point of contact for other units to share losses resulting from the activities of this Tier 1 team, including these in the overall Pareto of losses for use in the CI meeting. Escalate to Tier 2 major losses caused by the activities of other units.
· Train and coach, the team on problem solving and root cause analysis tools
· Lead the development and continuous improvement of role cards
· Attend and contribute to the daily Tier 1 meeting
· Support the Process Centric Team with the development of Operator Care standards, where applicable, as a result of CI projects and JDIs
· Collaborate with the Process Technologist to best support the Process Centric Team on the TPM activities and CI process, where applicable
· Collaborate with the Process Robustness Specialist to best support the Process Centric Team with Process Robustness activities
· Work with PCT(s) to update role cards and/or standard work plans at least annually
· Ensure adherence to the CI element operating standards
· Ensure use of the right methodology and tools (Just Do It, M1-M4)
· Ensures that the active CI projects are up to date and progressing in a timely manner
· Lead bigger CI projects (significant CI projects or green belts, e.g. C/O, OEE, Robustness, etc.) including raising of change controls, capital projects and updating documents as a result of these projects

Education
Diploma or Degree in Science or Degree in Engineering/Chemical Engineering
Given the focus on leadership of continuous improvement in this position, Greenbelt qualification in Six Sigma and/or Lean is required (Black belt is preferred)
Experience
More than 5 years of relevant experience in the Operational Excellence techniques (six sigma, lean manufacturing, etc.) in manufacturing industry.
