Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of pharmaceutical compounds by HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, and other techniques as required.

• Demonstrate ability to understand and perform testing in accordance with all pertinent SOPs and lab practices.

• Critically evaluate and audit data.

• Author technical documents such as analytical methods and reports.

• Demonstrate ability to detect method issues and bring to a supervisor’s attention.

• Demonstrate strong analytical laboratory techniques including accurate and consistent documentation practices.

• Validate, verify, and transfer analytical methods for pharmaceutical products.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry and 0-2 years of experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

• Must possess knowledge of analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical industry practice, and health authority regulations and guidances.

• Must possess strong analytical laboratory skills.  Must possess strong communication and reading skills.  Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.  Must be able to effectively operate a computer based data acquisition system for chromatography.  Must be able to multi-task to work on multiple projects at the same time. 

• Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents.  Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence.  Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts.  Ability to present to a group of departments.

• Ability to solve equations, apply technical mathematical concepts, and perform computations such as percentages, ratios, and rates. 

• Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis.  Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.

• This position will typically require working in a laboratory setting, which can include sitting at a desk or table or standing over a laboratory bench. The physical demands include intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. May be required to bend; kneel; and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms to carry things. Sedentary lifting requirements.  

• Normal chemical laboratory situation. Regular exposure to chemicals, solvents, fumes, and/or gasses. Works with poor ventilation or with regular exposure to odors. 

• Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
