We are looking for a Bench Scientist for our MSAT Recombinant DS Microbial organization with experience in upstream development and fermentation technology. The MSAT Recombinant DS Microbial Platform manages technology transfer, process development and troubleshooting while implementing new technologies to enhance efficiency and quality. Your job, as a Bench Scientist USP, will be to develop, optimize, scale-up, and transfer USP processes for manufacture of life-saving medicines in the Frankfurt BioCampus DS launch facilities. Main responsibilities:
Work independently as a fully integrated member of a cross-functional, interdisciplinary, and international MSAT development team
Independent design, planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments regarding process development and trouble shooting
Application of existing state-of-the-art process-relevant methods
Data analysis and data interpretation, presentation and reporting of results to an international and interdisciplinary audience
Evaluation of results e.g., in the form of written reports
Support of the production facilities with trouble-shootings to solve complex issues
Test and evaluate relevant process changes at laboratory and pilot scale to optimize the fermentation process and ensure robust operation
About you
Experience:
Relevant work experience in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or similar field
Soft skills:
Independent way of working
Exceptional team spirit and communication skills
High motivation, flexibility, reliability, and strong sense of responsibility
Motivation for both practical and theoretical work
Technical skills:
Hands on experience with cultivation and handling of genetically modified microorganisms
Experience with bioreactor fermentation in lab-scale (non-GMP) for recombinant microbial production
Experience with pilot scale bioreactors or GMP manufacturing is advantageous
Strong focus on Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) and/or Escherichia coli is advantageous
Creative and independent way of thinking and development of innovative solutions for complex issues
Structured way of approaching problem solving tasks in a scientifically based manner
Experience with microbiological methods and typical fermentation related analytics
Experience with automated fermentation systems is a plus
Experience with large scale recombinant production processes is a plus
Education:
Master or Ph.D. in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or similar field

The salary range for this position is :€79 104,00 - €105 472Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
