Assistant Finance Controller NA ViiV
Position Summary
As Assistant Finance Controller, you will support the finance controllership for GSK/ViiV in Costa Rica. You will lead month-end close tasks, maintain balance sheet integrity, and support financial reporting for assigned entities. You will work closely with local finance teams, regional controllers, and business partners. We value accuracy, curiosity, and clear communication. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Lead and execute month-end general ledger close tasks for assigned legal entities
- Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls in line with our finance control framework.
- Investigate and resolve accounting and reporting issues with stakeholders across functions.
- Ad Hoc support to local finance requests and local and corporate reporting.
- Support external and internal audits and prepare required audit deliverables.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation and standardization of reporting.

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, controllership, or financial reporting.
- Practical knowledge of month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems. SAP experience is an advantage.
- Good command of English for written and spoken communication.
- Comfortable working on-site in Costa Rica and collaborating with regional and global partners.
Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or local equivalent) or actively studying toward one.
- Experience in a shared service, multinational or manufacturing/supply environment.
- Familiarity with internal control frameworks and audit support experience.
- Experience working on inventory, intercompany or fixed asset accounting.
- Exposure to process automation tools (Power Query, VBA, Power BI) or interest in automation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative working style.
Working arrangement
This role is on-site in Costa Rica. You will work closely with local colleagues and join virtual meetings with regional and global teams as needed.
