RIFAMPIN by Hikma is mechanism of action rifampin inhibits dna-dependent rna polymerase activity in susceptible mycobacterium tuberculosis organisms. Approved for asymptomatic carriers of neisseria meningitidis to eliminate meningococci from the nasopharynx, meningococcal infection because of the possibility of the rapid emergence of resistant organisms, the treatment of all forms of tuberculosis. First approved in 2001.
