GENTAMICIN SULFATE by Abbott is mechanism of action gentamicin, an aminoglycoside, binds to the prokaryotic ribosome, inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria. Approved for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms: pseudomonas aeruginosa, proteus species (indole-positive, indole-negative) and 6 more indications. First approved in 1983.
