This role is designed to provide hands-on experience under close supervision and to build foundational skills in a manufacturing environment. <div><div>Under the guidance of a supervisor or experienced welder, the Welding Intern will: </div><div><ul><li>Follow all safety procedures and shop rules at all times. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Assist with weld preparation, basic fabrication, welding, and weld finishing operations. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Learn to weld on flat, curved, and vertical surfaces. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Learn how to set up welding machines </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Practice welding in various positions, including overhead, as skill level develops. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Make minor adjustments to welding equipment when directed. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Assist in straightening bent or warped metal using basic tools (e.g., hammering). </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Sort, mark, and tag finished work for identification. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Measure and compare workpieces to templates or straight edges to check accuracy. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, tools, and equipment. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Perform other routine shop duties as assigned. </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>Qualifications / Skills </div><div>To be successful in this internship, the individual should demonstrate: </div></div><div><div><ul><li>Basic ability to read a tape measure and use simple measuring tools. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Willingness to work with hands in a mechanical or industrial setting. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Strong interest in learning welding and fabrication skills. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to learn to read blueprints and manufacturing orders. </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>Education & Experience </div><div><ul><li>Enrollment in or completion of a welding or technical training program highly preferred. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Prior shop, mechanical, or hands-on experience is a plus, but not mandatory. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>Physical Demands / Work Environment </div><div>This position involves work in a manufacturing environment.
