Job Summary:
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Material Handler with strong expertise in packaging precision instruments, such as transmission electron microscopes and related high-value components. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient handling and packaging of sensitive equipment, ensuring products are protected during global transport and delivered to customers in perfect condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute advanced packaging of electron microscopes, subassemblies, and fragile high-tech components for domestic and international shipment
• Apply specialized packaging techniques (shock protection, vibration control, moisture barrier, vacuum sealing, and ESD-safe handling)
• Interpret technical drawings, packaging instructions, and specifications to determine optimal packing methods
• Prepare crates and custom packaging solutions, including wooden crates and foam interiors tailored to product requirements
• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations (e.g., export control, dangerous goods if applicable, ISPM-15 for wood packaging)
• Perform incoming and outgoing inspections to verify packaging quality and product integrity
• Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and quality teams to improve packaging methods and resolve issues
• Maintain accurate records in ERP/QAD, Final Test systems , including shipment documentation and traceability
• Train and mentor team members on best practices in packaging and material handling
• Adhere to strict safety, cleanliness, and quality standards, including cleanroom procedures where applicable

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in material handling and advanced packaging within a high-tech or precision equipment environment
• Proven experience packaging large, fragile, and high-value systems (e.g., microscopes, medical or semiconductor equipment)
• Strong knowledge of ESD-safe handling and cleanroom practices
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and work instructions
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP)
• High attention to detail and a strong quality mindset
• Good communication skills in English

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with custom crating and export packaging for global shipments
• Knowledge of shock loggers, tilt indicators, and environmental monitoring during transport
• Certification for forklift, reach truck, or overhead crane operations
• Familiarity with Lean/continuous improvement methodologies
