Upstream Process Engineer – Diamyd Medical

An exciting opportunity to join Diamyd Medical’s own biologic manufacturing facility in Umeå as process engineer for upstream bioprocessing

Haeger & Carlsson Executive Search and Interim is proud to support Diamyd Medical in recruiting an Upstream Process Engineer for their state-of-the-art Biologics Manufacturing facility in Umeå.

As Upstream Process Engineer, you will play a key role in the manufacturing and process development of biologics, ensuring robust and efficient upstream operations in a GMP-regulated environment. Working closely with colleagues across Manufacturing, Quality and Analytical teams, you will contribute to the successful cultivation, scale-up and production of cell-based processes. The role combines hands-on laboratory and cleanroom work with scientific problem-solving and process optimization, offering an opportunity to be part of an innovative organization advancing biologics manufacturing. You will report to the Manufacturing Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Cultivate cells in shake flasks and in bioreactors.

• Work in cleanrooms according to cGMP regulations.

• Perform bioanalytical analyses.

Relevant background and experience:

• University education in a relevant scientific discipline (pharmacy, biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences or similar) or long experience in life science industry.

• Several years of work with cell cultivation.

• Experienced in cell cultivation and expression vector systems.

• Experience with bioanalytical techniques (such as electrophoresis, HPLC, WB, ELISA).

• Experience from cell cultivation in bioreactors is a plus.

• Used to work in a quality-controlled business, according to GMP, ISO is a plus.

• Experience from work in clean rooms is a plus.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English
