About the Role
The Therapeutic Policy and Advocacy Lead, GI (Associate Director) executes patient advocacy strategies that advance shared priorities for the US Business Unit (USBU), Strategy and Portfolio Development (SPD), and the International Business Unit (IBU) for an assigned therapeutic portfolio of in-line and pipeline medicines. The role drives strategic engagement with patient group partners across the development and commercialization continuum, including addressing access policy and barriers to optimal care. This role also ensures patients’ and caregivers’ perspectives are included in company discussions and decision making.
How You Will Contribute
Execute advocacy strategies aligned with assigned franchise/product goals and serve as point on cross functional workstreams.
Serve as the primary point of contact to franchise/product teams, including brand planning, strategy development, and insight generation across the product life cycle.
Act as the key relationship manager to priority therapeutic area advocacy partners, represent company interests, assess organizations’ priorities, and determine shared interests.
Conduct strategic advocacy dialogue with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities, ensure timely information exchange and issue responsiveness.
Under guidance of Director, TPA, create and execute collaborative initiatives with external stakeholders that improve patient outcomes.
Anticipate and address external environment trends and policies impacting Takeda.
Contribute to shaping the environment to support Takeda’s franchise- specific development and business objectives through strategic public affairs initiatives in collaboration with USBU and IBU public affairs and other functions.
Manage program budgets to support policy and advocacy objectives.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years in patient advocacy or related experience in the pharmaceutical industry, or another health care sector required
Knowledge of government and commercial payer sector/reimbursement, government affairs or policy development preferred
Demonstrated ability for advocacy, coalition building, and/or grassroots mobilization
Experience supporting effective engagement with advocacy organization and professional societies
Exceptional strategic thinking and planning skills
Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly form lasting and trusted relationships
Strong communication skills and professional presence to support effective engagement with stakeholders, including the ability to engage and advance sensitive topics
Team player who can collaborate, support and implement both internal and external strategic initiatives to advance corporate objectives

Lexington, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$153,600.00 - $241,340.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
