It is a welcoming and enjoyable place to live and work.</p><p></p><p>The role of Technical Support Scientist will involve the following:</p><p></p><p><b>Primary Function </b></p><ul><li>Support the plant in meeting its quality, service, regulatory, financial, and safety goals through effective technical support of diagnostic products.</li><li>Provide technical expertise to the manufacturing team to ensure production targets are achieved.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Support the smooth transfer of new products from other Abbott sites into AIDD Longford in line with Q09 requirements.</li><li>Assist in product development and improvement projects in compliance with Q04 requirements.</li><li>Ensure compliance with manufacturing strategies related to Level III Complaint Investigations.</li><li>Complete and document Technical Support investigations in accordance with site procedures.</li><li>Design, manage, and validate process improvement projects.</li><li>Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify, document, investigate, and resolve product non‑conformances in line with the site CAPA system.</li></ul><ul><li>Participate in laboratory maintenance activities, including instrument calibration, waste disposal, and reagent ordering.</li><li>Present technical information clearly to team members and management.</li><li>Assist in training team members and technologists as required.</li><li>Update and circulate statistical process control charts, highlighting any issues.</li><li>Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices are followed, recommending improvements where appropriate.</li><li>Identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities that do not compromise product quality.</li><li>Escalate potential risks to product quality or safety to the Scientific Services Manager or Technical Support Team Leader.</li><li>Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.</li><li>Liaise with colleagues in Lake County, Dartford, Delkenheim, and Japan as required.</li><li>Maintain GMP and GLP standards.</li><li>Assist in preparing the annual departmental budget.</li><li>Participate in the AIDD Longford Self‑Assessment process.</li><li>Support periodic review of controlled documents in line with site procedures.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education</b></p><ul><li>A third‑level qualification in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, providing a strong foundation in the scientific principles of immunoassays and the skills required to troubleshoot product issues.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Background / Experience</b></p><ul><li>Minimum of two years’ experience in the development or support of diagnostic assays, <b>or</b></li><li>A relevant postgraduate qualification</li></ul><p></p><p><i>Please note any offer of employment for this position is</i> <i>conditional upon the successful completion</i> <i>of a pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening, conducted by a medical practitioner designated by the Company.</i></p><p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p><b>The base pay for this position is </b></p>N/A<p style="text-align:left"><span>In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.</span></p><p style="text-align:inherit">     </p><h2><b>JOB FAMILY:</b></h2>Support Services<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>DIVISION:</b></h2>CRLB Core Lab<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><h2><b>LOCATION:</b></h2>Ireland &gt; Longford : Lisnamuck<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS:</b></h2><p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>WORK SHIFT:</b></h2>Ie - Lfdflsg2 (Ireland)<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>TRAVEL:</b></h2>No<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE:</b></h2>Yes<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><h2><b>SIGNIFICANT WORK ACTIVITIES:</b></h2>Not Applicable<p style="text-align:inherit">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:inherit">     </p><p style="text-align:inherit">     </p>
