The Technical Buyer acts as a crucial link between Design and Development, engineering/production teams and external suppliers, optimizing the supply chain, reducing costs, and managing technical risk.</p><p><br /><b><span>Job Duties &amp; Responsibilities</span></b><br /> </p><ul><li>Technical Compliance: Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, to ensure procured components meet quality standards.</li><li>Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Design &amp; Development, engineering, project management, and production teams to align purchasing with project plans and timelines</li><li>Estimating: Experienced in producing accurate cost calculations, managing RFQs, and supporting project teams with reliable data-driven estimates.</li><li>Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers, including negotiating contracts, prices, and delivery schedules.</li><li>Cost Optimization: Analyse costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives (VAVE) without compromising quality.</li><li>Procurement Process: Manage the full Request for Quotation (RFQ) process, issue purchase orders, and resolve issues with suppliers regarding quality or delays.</li><li>Inventory &amp; Risk Management: Monitor market trends to anticipate risks and manage inventory levels to support production requirements.<br /> </li></ul><p><b><span>Competencies &amp; Requirements</span></b></p><ul><li>Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication) or technical materials relevant to the industry (e.g., steel fabrication &amp; timber manufacturing).</li><li>Education/Experience: Typically requires a degree in a relevant engineering and or product development discipline or equivalent technical purchasing experience</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint Etc.</li><li>Communication: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills for managing supplier relationships.</li><li>Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Navision/ Business Central) for processing of purchase orders.</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills</li><li>Technical and inquisitive mindset</li><li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines</li><li>Problem solver, solutions orientated, positive can-do attitude.</li><li>Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Team player with the ability to work self-sufficiently.</li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><span>Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, <span>candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes</span> as permitted or required by applicable law</span><span>.</span></p>
