Thamma Raksa Project | PUR

PUR is looking for an experienced Sustainable Forest Management Consultant to support the development of a comprehensive Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFMP) for the Thamma Raksa Project in Isaan, Thailand.

The project focuses on agroforestry and small-scale forest plantations across several provinces in Northeast Thailand. The consultant will develop practical forest management, selective harvesting, post-harvesting and farmer training approaches that support long-term forest health, carbon storage and farmer needs.

About the Assignment

The main objective of this consultancy is to develop a practical and comprehensive Sustainable Forest Management Plan aligned with:

• Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Version 5.0

• VM0047

• ABACUS Label

• Symbiosis Quality Criteria

The plan will cover different planting models, tree species and ecological and socio-economic contexts across Isaan, Thailand.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for:

• Developing the Sustainable Forest Management Plan for the Thamma Raksa project.

• Developing appropriate maintenance practices, including pruning, thinning, weeding and pest management.

• Developing guidelines for selective harvesting, including tree selection, harvesting volumes, timing and methods.

• Conducting tree growth, biomass and harvesting analysis to support harvesting schedules and carbon-stock projections.

• Developing recommendations for post-harvesting management, replanting and natural regeneration.

• Considering Thailand's forestry regulations, land tenure and socio-economic context.

• Developing a practical monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) framework.

• Supporting farmer engagement and developing practical training materials.

• Translating technical recommendations into practical guidance for farmers and field implementation partners.

3. Harvesting Schedule & Biomass Growth Impact Dataset – Excel

4. Farmer Training Modules covering:

   • Site maintenance
