Manager Supply Chain I, Warehouse Readiness & Improvements - Amgen North Carolina

What you will do

In this role, you will be part of the Amgen North Carolina Supply Chain team and will provide project management and planning support for Warehouse inspection readiness and Warehouse improvement initiatives. This role will coordinate cross-functional work across Warehouse Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, EHSS, and Supply Chain partners to strengthen warehouse compliance, improve material flow, and support site readiness for inspections and operational milestones.

 

The Manager Supply Chain, Warehouse Readiness & Improvements will support the planning, tracking, and execution of warehouse projects, including inspection readiness deliverables, mock audit preparation, readiness action plans, procedure and training readiness, warehouse process improvements, and operational excellence initiatives. The role will help maintain project schedules, track risks and actions, prepare status updates, and ensure deliverables are completed on time with appropriate stakeholder alignment, while escalating priorities and decisions to the accountable Project Manager roles as needed.

This role requires strong organization, follow-through, communication, and collaboration skills. The successful candidate will work closely with warehouse and quality subject matter experts to drive clear project execution, escalate issues as needed, and support a culture focused on safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Responsibilities may include:

• Support Warehouse inspection readiness project plans, timelines, action trackers, and readiness deliverables.
• Coordinate preparation for mock audits, inspection walkthroughs, Gemba walks, and warehouse readiness reviews.
• Track and follow up on readiness actions, risks, issues, and decisions to ensure timely closure.
• Partner with Warehouse Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, EHSS, and other Supply Chain partners to support execution of warehouse improvement initiatives.
• Support project management for warehouse process improvements related to material flow, storage, inventory accuracy, housekeeping, documentation, training, and operational discipline.
• Help prepare project status updates, dashboards, meeting agendas, minutes, and action item summaries for functional and cross-functional forums.
• Maintain visibility to key project milestones and communicate progress, risks, and barriers to project leads and functional leadership.
• Support the creation, revision, and implementation of warehouse procedures, work instructions, job aids, and training materials, in partnership with subject matter experts.
• Support completion of quality system deliverables such as change control records, deviations, CAPAs, risk assessments, and related documentation, as appropriate for the role.
• Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing warehouse metrics to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and project priorities.
• Apply basic problem-solving and continuous improvement tools to support root cause analysis, process mapping, action planning, and sustainable improvements.
• Help strengthen GMP compliance and inspection readiness by ensuring project documents, trackers, and supporting materials are accurate, organized, and inspection-ready.
• Escalate risks or barriers when timelines, quality, safety, or compliance expectations may be impacted.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and continuous improvement mindset across project teams.

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of GMP Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or project management experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of GMP Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or project management experience

OR

High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of GMP Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, or project management experience

Beyond that, preferred qualifications are:

• Experience supporting projects in a GMP, GDP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, warehouse, manufacturing, quality, or regulated operations environment.
• Understanding of warehouse operations, material flow, inventory control, receiving, shipping, storage, and/or GMP documentation practices.
• Experience coordinating action trackers, project schedules, meeting minutes, dashboards, or project status updates.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize status, risks, and actions clearly.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners and build effective working relationships.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Smartsheet, Miro, or similar project management and collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as deviations, CAPAs, change controls, SOPs, training, or inspection readiness activities.
• Continuous improvement mindset and interest in learning Lean, root cause analysis, process mapping, 5S, or other operational excellence tools.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Self-starter with curiosity, accountability, and willingness to learn warehouse and supply chain processes.
• Ability to support onsite warehouse walkthroughs, project meetings, and readiness activities as business needs require.
