The Marmon Group LLC<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><span>As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—</span><span>you’ll</span><span> be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. </span><span>We’re</span><span> committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where </span><span>everyone’s</span><span> empowered to be their best.</span></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p>Position Objective</p><p>· Support the Transportation Group controllership and finance function through hands-on participation in financial reporting, consolidation, analysis, and process improvement activities</p><p>· Gain direct exposure to how accounting and finance operate across multiple business units and platforms within a multi-billion-dollar, decentralized organization</p><p>· Develop practical skills in data analysis, financial systems, and cross-functional coordination while working closely with experienced controllers and finance leaders</p><p></p><p>Position Responsibilities</p><p>· Assist with recurring financial reporting and consolidation activities, including month-end, flash reporting, and management reporting packages</p><p>· Compile, organize, and analyze financial data to support benchmarking, variance analysis, and performance monitoring</p><p>· Prepare presentation materials and supporting schedules for leadership meetings</p><p>· Coordinate information requests across business units and platforms to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness</p><p>· Support documentation and standardization efforts, including reporting templates, mappings, and reference materials</p><p>· Assist with reviews of capital expenditure requests and related financial models</p><p>· Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, and transparency back-office workflows</p><p>· Maintain organized, well-documented workpapers and reference files to support repeatable processes and knowledge sharing</p><p></p><p>Education / Experience</p><p>· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field</p><p>· Coursework completed or in-progress in the following:</p><p>o Intermediate Accounting</p><p>o Financial Accounting</p><p>o Cost Accounting</p><p>o Introductory Finance</p><p>· Prior work experience, internships, or organizational involvement preferred (experience does not need to be accounting-related)</p><p>· Interest in corporate accounting, financial reporting, analytics, or controllership functions</p><p></p><p></p><p>Software & Technical Skills</p><p>· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel</p><p>· Comfort prompting LLMs (AI) to supplement workflows</p><p>· Exposure to, or interest in, tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, Tableau, or similar analytics/automation tools is a plus</p><p>· Familiarity with financial systems (e.g., consolidation or ERP tools) is a plus</p><p>· Curiosity about emerging tools is welcomed</p><p></p><p>What a Successful Candidate Must Demonstrate</p><p>· Ability to learn quickly and operate effectively in a fast-paced, professional environment</p><p>· Clear written and verbal communication skills</p><p>· Self-direction, initiative, and a willingness to ask thoughtful questions</p><p>· Adaptability in working across multiple teams and priorities</p><p>· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy</p><p>· A growth mindset, curiosity, and genuine interest in how accounting and finance drive business decisions</p><p></p><p>Other Requirements</p><p>· In-office at the Marmon Corporate Office in the Loop (Chicago, IL)</p><p>o Dress code: business casual</p><p>· Potential travel;
