Position Summary
The Strategic Partnerships Manager is responsible for developing and advancing strategic relationships with a portfolio of major clinical and healthcare customers across Australia and New Zealand, including key global customers.
The role leads the development and execution of customer partnership strategies, builds senior executive relationships and brings together capabilities from across Thermo Fisher Scientific to address customer priorities, create value and deliver sustainable growth.
Working closely with local, regional and global teams, the Strategic Partnerships Manager will identify and develop strategic opportunities, lead complex commercial engagements and position Thermo Fisher Scientific as a trusted partner across the breadth of our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic partnership plans for a portfolio of top-tier clinical and healthcare customers, aligning local priorities with regional and global strategies where applicable.
- Build and advance trusted relationships with senior executives, procurement leaders and key operational stakeholders, positioning Thermo Fisher Scientific as a strategic partner.
- Identify and develop opportunities to drive sustainable revenue growth, increase share of wallet and create long-term value for both the customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
- Lead cross-functional engagement across Thermo Fisher Scientific, bringing together business units, commercial teams, service, supply chain and global corporate account teams to deliver coordinated customer solutions.
- Leverage the breadth of the Thermo Fisher Scientific portfolio to address customer priorities and develop strategic opportunities across products, services and capabilities.
- Lead customer-level commercial strategy, including contracts, pricing, negotiations, rebates and other strategic commercial initiatives.
- Develop customer-specific proposals and solutions in collaboration with local, regional and global teams that align Thermo Fisher Scientific capabilities with customer strategic and operational priorities.
- Establish and lead regular partnership reviews and executive business reviews, using commercial and customer insights to assess performance, identify opportunities and improve the customer experience.
- Maintain a strong understanding of customer priorities, market dynamics and the competitive landscape to identify emerging opportunities, risks and areas for strategic collaboration.
- Use data, analytics and the PPI Business System to drive continuous improvement in partnership performance and customer experience.
- Act as a senior customer advocate within Thermo Fisher Scientific, influencing stakeholders across a complex global matrix to ensure alignment, accountability and effective execution of partnership priorities.
- Share strategic partnership and account management best practices, providing guidance and support to colleagues where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in business, science or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic partnerships, key account management, business development or a complex B2B commercial environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience developing customer strategies, identifying growth opportunities and delivering commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior and executive-level customer stakeholders.
- Experience leading complex commercial negotiations, including contracts, pricing and strategic customer agreements.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across multiple business units, functions and geographies within a matrix organisation.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Experience within healthcare, clinical, life sciences or a related industry is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability, with the ability to translate complex customer and market information into clear priorities and executable strategies.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- High level of integrity and professional standards, with a strong focus on customer experience and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office and standard business systems.
Travel of approximately 30–40% may be required.
