The opportunity

The Process Leader, Global Manufacturing Capacity is responsible for developing, analyzing, and driving long-range capacity plans across a global portfolio of manufacturing processes and production lines. The role translates product demand and portfolio growth into technically sound capacity requirements across Beckman Coulter’s internal manufacturing network, critical suppliers, and OEM partners.

It is a hands-on analytical and technical role that works directly with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams. The successful candidate will be comfortable going to the production floor, understanding how a line actually operates, challenging technical assumptions constructively, and converting engineering realities into fact-based capacity models and investment priorities.

The position reports to the Senior Director of S&OP, is part of the Global Supply Chain organization.

What you will do

• Build and maintain end-to-end capacity models for complex manufacturing lines with multiple process steps, variable cycle times, shared equipment, labor constraints, yield losses, changeovers, and product-mix dependencies.
• Partner directly with manufacturing engineers, operations leaders, maintenance, quality, and site teams to understand line design, equipment capability, process flow, standard work, bottlenecks, and practical operating constraints.
• Lead technical capacity reviews at the line, value-stream, site, supplier, and global-network levels. Ask the right engineering questions, test assumptions, and create a common fact base for decision making.
• Translate demand forecasts, mix shifts, new product introductions, transfers, and growth scenarios into equipment, labor, floor-space, tooling, and supplier capacity requirements.
• Perform what-if and sensitivity analyses to evaluate demand changes, process improvements, yield and uptime changes, alternate routings, capital investments, and risk-mitigation options.
• Identify emerging capacity gaps early and partner with cross-functional teams to define practical mitigation plans, owners, timing, and decision points.
• Support capital and network decisions with clear capacity evidence, scenario comparisons, assumptions, risks, and recommendations.
• Develop and deploy standard, repeatable capacity-planning methods, model structures, definitions, and governance across product lines and manufacturing sites globally.
• Connect technical capacity conclusions to S&OP and long-range planning, communicating complex findings clearly to both engineering specialists and senior leaders.

Essential qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field with  9+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 7+ years; or a Doctoral degree with 4+ years.
• Demonstrated experience working with industrial engineering methods to complex manufacturing environments, including line balancing, process-flow analysis, bottleneck identification, utilization, cycle-time analysis, throughput, labor and equipment capacity, and production constraints.
• Demonstrated experience building capacity models for multi-step manufacturing processes.
• Ability to engage manufacturing and engineering teams in detailed technical discussions, understand how processes and equipment operate, and translate technical inputs into robust capacity assumptions.
• Experience with S&OP, IBP, long-range capacity planning, manufacturing strategy, or supply-chain planning.
• Experience with ERP and planning systems such as Oracle, SAP, Kinaxis, or Anaplan.

Preferred qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience in regulated, high-mix, or technically complex manufacturing, such as diagnostics, medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, electronics, or precision manufacturing.
• Experience assessing supplier or OEM capacity and integrating external capacity constraints into end-to-end network plans.
• Experience supporting capital planning, manufacturing transfers, new product introductions, or major process-improvement programs.
• Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, simulation, discrete-event modeling, or statistical analysis.
• Experience collaborating across multiple sites, regions, and technical functions in a global organization.

Travel and compensation

Up to 20% travel.

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000. This is the range we in good faith believe represents the possible compensation for this role at the time of posting.

The role is also eligible for bonus or incentive pay.
