As Senior Staff Product Marketing Manager for DRAGEN, you will own the global product marketing strategy and go-to-market plan for Illumina’s most important and highest‑profile software.<br /> </p><p>This is a highly visible, high‑impact leadership role at the intersection of product strategy, commercial execution, and customer value. You will shape how DRAGEN is positioned, understood, adopted, and loved—by researchers, clinicians, bioinformaticians, and commercial leaders alike.</p><p></p><p>You will define the narrative for DRAGEN across applications (germline, somatic, multiomics), segments, and geographies, translating extraordinary technical performance into unmistakable customer and business value. Your work will influence revenue growth, platform adoption, and Illumina’s leadership in genomic analysis at scale.</p><p></p><p>This role is ideal for a strategic, technically fluent product marketer who thrives in complexity, leads through influence, and wants to leave a visible mark on a flagship product.<br /> </p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b><br /> </p><h3><b>Product and Portfolio Leadership</b></h3><ul><li>Serve as the global product marketing owner for DRAGEN, helping set vision, strategy, and priorities across launches, lifecycle, and expansion opportunities.</li><li>Define and evolve DRAGEN’s positioning, messaging, and value framework that clearly articulates differentiation in performance, accuracy, comprehensiveness, and scalability.</li><li>Translate complex bioinformatics workflows and benchmarks into compelling, customer‑centric stories that resonate with both scientific and commercial audiences.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Go‑to‑Market Strategy and Execution</b></h3><ul><li>Lead end‑to‑end go‑to‑market strategy for major DRAGEN releases, expansions, and application launches, in close partnership with Product Management, Commercial, and Regional Marketing teams.</li><li>Develop integrated launch plans, marketing calendars, and campaign frameworks that drive awareness, adoption, and revenue impact.</li><li>Guide segmentation and use‑case prioritization to ensure DRAGEN wins in both established and emerging markets.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Customer and Market Insight</b></h3><ul><li>Partner with Product Management to understand voice of the customer and the market, engaging deeply with researchers, clinicians, bioinformaticians, and key opinion leaders to validate strategy and inform roadmap narratives.</li><li>Lead market and competitive intelligence efforts to anticipate shifts in bioinformatics, compute, and analytics ecosystems.</li><li>Partner with Product Management to shape how customer needs and market trends are reflected in roadmap communication and investment decisions.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Commercial Enablement and Revenue Impact</b></h3><ul><li>Enable global sales, field applications, and partners with world‑class storytelling, training, competitive positioning, and deal‑support assets.</li><li>Own the creation of high‑impact marketing deliverables, including cornerstone messaging, customer stories, thought leadership, and technical‑scientific content.</li><li>Partner with demand generation teams to design campaigns that convert DRAGEN’s technical superiority into measurable pipeline and growth.</li></ul><p></p><h3><b>Cross‑Functional Leadership</b></h3><ul><li>Operate as a senior leader within the software and informatics marketing team, influencing without authority across product, R&D, commercial, and executive stakeholders.</li><li>Mentor and raise the bar for product marketing excellence, helping define best practices for flagship software across Illumina.</li><li>Represent DRAGEN marketing in executive forums with clarity, confidence, and strategic perspective.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Experience and Education:</b></p><ul><li>Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics or related field required; advanced degree (Masters or above) with training in marketing/business principles strongly preferred.</li><li>8+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, or related roles in genomics, bioinformatics, life sciences software, or adjacent deep‑tech fields.</li><li>Proven experience owning go‑to‑market strategy for complex, high‑value software platforms with significant revenue responsibility.</li><li>Deep technical fluency in bioinformatics workflows or genomic analysis (hands‑on or customer‑facing experience strongly preferred).</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional, matrixed teams and influence senior stakeholders through insight, clarity, and trust.</li><li>Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to connect technical depth to customer outcomes and business value.</li><li>Strong strategic thinking paired with operational excellence and a bias toward action.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p>DRAGEN is foundational to Illumina’s software strategy and a cornerstone of how customers unlock value from sequencing. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
