About the Role 

The Sr Manager, Public Affairs and Operations, supports U.S. Public Affairs (USPA) by managing compliance, communications, stakeholder engagement, and project execution across internal and external initiatives. This role serves as a key liaison across teams, ensuring effective coordination, timely delivery of communications, and alignment with organizational priorities. 

 

How You Will Contribute

  • Manage state and federal lobbying compliance requirements, including tracking, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Lead USPA internal communications initiatives, including regular updates (e.g. 5 Things to Know in Massachusetts) and other targeted communications.  

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of communications materials such as onepagers, downloadable articles, and briefing documents.  

  • Serve as the USPA liaison for the U.S. reputation campaign, ensuring alignment across messaging and execution. 

  • Organize and prepare for internal and external meetings, including agendas, materials, logistics, and followup 

  • Manage projects and events from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and objectives are met. 

  • Oversee and maintain USPA websites, including SharePoint and MyTakeda, ensuring content accuracy, relevance, and timely updates.  

  • Support DD&T education and initiatives for the team, including evolving the use of AI. 

  • Maintain trade association committee, working group, and distribution lists.  

  • Support engagement with external partners and associations as needed. 

  • Execute ad-hoc projects as requested by the SVP, USPA and manager. 

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

  • 5+ years of experience in public/government affairs or relevant pharmaceutical industry experience required 

  • Experience supporting or leading complex, cross sector or enterprise-wide initiatives required 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dead lined riven environment while managing multiple priorities. 

  • Ability to manage resources, expectations, and timelines independently, while seeking alignment and input from stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrates sound judgment and thoughtful decision making, with appropriate escalation when needed. 

  • Professional, collaborative, and diplomatic approach when working with internal and external partners 

  • Consistently exercises sound judgment and makes high quality decisions with minimal oversight. 

  • Experience providing outstanding customer service to internal and external clients.  

  • Maintains confidentiality and handling of sensitive information responsibly. 

  • Solid understanding of legislative processes and political environments. 

 

Travel: 

  • Some travel, may include overnight, up to 10%.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$137,000.00 - $215,270.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
