Description

The Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for managing an engineering group to design and maintain products involving complex electromechanical systems and associated accessories. Responsibilities include: Designing, developing, and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices; Creating automated systems and the software to control them; Developing design documents for mechanical parts and products; Understanding problems or client briefs and developing solutions that satisfy them; Selecting the required tools and materials for the manufacturing process; Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training of Engineers within the team; Attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences to network with others and stay on top of field advancements; Leading the design and development of revolutionary robotic surgical systems; Executing product characterizations, verifications, and validations; Participating in cross-departmental collaboration for project development and mark introduction of new products; Coordinating with suppliers to procure both off-the-shelf and custom designed electromechanical components; Documenting product development activities through engineering notebooks, drawings, and protocol testing reports; Understanding and following applicable quality and safety procedures per regulatory standards and internal procedures.

Requirements

MSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar; Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills; Demonstrated ability to work in and lead a team (3 years experience leading a team required); Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software; Experience with design for sterility, and cleaning in medical devices preferred; Strong understanding of currently available robotic components, including motors and encoders; Proficient with design for manufacturing and materials choices; Experience with documenting and testing electro-mechanical systems; Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Experience with medical devices preferred; Familiarity with FDA regulations preferred; Start-up experience preferred.
