You will play a crucial role in optimizing and continually enhancing process efficiencies, quality, safety, and automation within our manufacturing operations. By collaborating with multi-functional teams and analyzing production methods, you will successfully implement structured continuous improvement methodologies to enhance performance. Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><b>Team Leadership & Talent Development</b><ul><li>Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process and automation engineers to deliver operational and strategic objectives.</li><li>Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development planning.</li><li>Build technical capability through targeted training and knowledge-sharing programs.</li></ul></li><li><b>Process Improvement & Technical Excellence</b><ul><li><b>I</b>dentify, prioritize, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, yield, and reliability.</li><li>Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions for process deviations and incidents.</li><li>Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies to drive sustainable improvements.</li><li>Serve as a technical resource to Operations, EHS, QA, QC, and Procurement for daily problem-solving and incident investigations.</li><li>Ensure systematic oversight and optimization of critical plant systems (e.g., HVAC, compressed air, water, electrical, fire protection, scrubbers, thermal oxidizers, security, buildings & grounds) to maintain compliance and operational readiness.</li><li>Support regulatory, compliance, and audit activities aligned with industry and internal standards.</li></ul></li><li><b>Automation & Digital Enablement</b><ul><li>Drive automation strategies to modernize packaging, filling, labeling, and material handling operations.</li><li>Evaluate, select, and implement new automation and control technologies to improve throughput, safety, and data integrity.</li><li>Partner with Maintenance, IT, and Quality to ensure robust system integration and lifecycle management.</li><li>Leverage digital tools, analytics, and manufacturing data systems to optimize workflows and asset utilization.</li></ul></li><li><b>Cross-Industry Best Practices</b><ul><li>Translate best practices from chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or other regulated industries to strengthen site performance.</li><li>Lead and support process verification and validation activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ, to ensure compliant and capable operations.</li></ul></li><li><b>Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Data-Driven Performance</b><ul><li>Develop and sustain SPC systems to monitor, control, and improve product and process quality.</li><li>Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.</li><li>Implement control charts and advanced statistical tools to drive process stability and capability.</li></ul></li><li><b>Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence</b><ul><li>Champion site-wide continuous improvement culture and governance.</li><li>Lead projects delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and customer performance.</li><li>Establish performance metrics and standard work to sustain gains.</li></ul></li><li><b>Project & Capital Management</b><ul><li>Lead engineering and capital projects from concept and feasibility through design, execution, validation, and handoff to operations.</li><li>Develop business cases, manage annual CapEx planning, and ensure disciplined project execution.</li><li>Deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.</li><li>Align engineering roadmaps with site and divisional strategic objectives.</li></ul></li></ul><div></div><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree (required) in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.</li><li>Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and packaging/filling operations.</li><li>Proven track record of leading capital improvement projects at a manufacturing site (develop annual Capex budget, create, obtain approval, and complete individual Capex projects).</li><li>Experience in a highly-regulated chemical production environment is strongly preferred.</li><li>Proficiency in SPC and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment.</li></ul><div></div><p><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related field.</li><li>Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).</li><li>Demonstrated success leading automation implementation projects in filling, labeling, or packaging operations.</li></ul><p></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><u><b>Compensation and Benefits</b></u></p>The salary range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $143,000.00–$214,475.00.<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
