Our approach to R&D Position Summary You will lead epidemiology initiatives in Japan to inform development and lifecycle decisions. You will partner across clinical, safety, regulatory and commercial teams. You will shape study design, manage external partnerships, and translate real-world evidence into clear recommendations. Responsibilities This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: - Lead design, delivery and interpretation of epidemiology studies and real-world evidence projects in Japan. - Provide clear epidemiologic input to cross-functional teams including clinical development, safety, regulatory and market access. - Manage external partnerships and vendors to access data, deliver studies and ensure quality and timelines. - Produce study documents and outputs: protocols, analysis plans, final reports, regulatory input and scientific communications. - Represent GSK in scientific and regulatory discussions in Japan and with external experts. - Mentor colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing and process improvements across the Epidemiology team. Why You? Basic Qualification We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals: - Advanced degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or related field (Master’s minimum; doctoral preferred). - At least 5 years of applied epidemiology experience, including work with real-world data or observational studies. - Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, contributing to drug or vaccine development or post-marketing evidence. - Strong skills in study design, protocol development, analytic planning and interpretation of observational research. - Proven stakeholder management in matrix teams and working with cross-functional partners. - Fluent in Japanese and proficient in English to operate in a global environment. Preferred Qualification If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: - Doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health or a related discipline. - Experience with regulatory submissions and interactions with Japanese regulators. - Experience in therapeutic areas relevant to Japan or Asia, such as infectious disease, vaccines, immunology or chronic disease. - Familiarity with Japanese healthcare databases, claims, electronic medical records or disease registries. - Track record of peer-reviewed publications or presentations at scientific meetings. - Experience managing external vendors and multi-site collaborations in Japan and Asia. Working arrangement This role is hybrid, with regular on-site presence in Japan to collaborate with local teams and external stakeholders.
