He/ She will be responsible for quality of deliverables and for managing time and cost of all the projects executed</p><p>As a Senior Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, manufacturing, and suppliers, to drive innovative and cost-effective design solutions. You will be responsible for design validation, material selection,  DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing &amp; Assembly. Additionally, the role requires problem-solving in product improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement initiatives, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and best practices. As part of the team, you will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence and contributing to process improvements in product development.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities / Functions: </b></p><ul><li>Support the design and development of heavy-duty transportation vehicles such as trailers,  truck bodies, Brakes calliper, wheel hubs, fifth wheels, etc</li><li>Review designs, 3D models, and drawings that represent the product in terms of its fit, form, and function</li><li>Drive R&amp;D initiatives through concept generation, technology evaluation, and early-stage prototyping to support new product and platform development.</li><li>Drive VAVE implementation through design and modularization of components in a product line based on analysis of a commodity category or supplier strategy</li><li>Stay up to date with emerging research and technology breakthroughs through white papers and industry research for sheet metal forming, welding, and casting processes</li><li>Actively participate in continuous learning and professional development activities, including attending training programs, workshops, and conferences</li><li>Identify areas for improvement, troubleshoot technical issues, and propose and implement design modifications of existing product lines</li><li>Mentor trainee engineers and junior engineers on various technical skills</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Required Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge) </b></p><ul><li>Proven experience/exposure in end-to-end product design, preferably in trailer and heavy-duty vehicle industries (experience in related industries will also be considered).</li><li>Strong technical expertise in sheet metal design, weldments, metal stamping, and metal forming, combined with a solid foundation in general engineering principles.</li><li><b>Working knowledge of casting design</b>, including material selection, casting process selection, and design considerations for manufacturability and structural performance.</li><li>Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for <b>Solidworks / NX</b>, for component design, detailed drawing creation, and a strong ability to adapt to different engineering tools and applications as needed.</li><li>Well-versed in <b>Weld Symbols</b>, <b>GD&amp;T </b>and ANSI drawing standards</li><li>Strong knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) practices, with the ability to troubleshoot production challenges and optimize assembly processes.</li><li>Knowledge of <b>NPD process</b>, <b>design calculations</b>, <b>DFMEA</b> and <b>Concept Selection Matrix</b></li><li>Ability to analyse and resolve field failures, production issues, and customer complaints through effective root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.</li><li>Demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to develop cost-effective, scalable manufacturing solutions.</li><li>Awareness of emerging materials, manufacturing technologies, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and foster innovation.</li><li><b>Exposure to Project Management Skills </b>- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and execute tasks for self and team within agreed time and with quality</li><li>Understanding of <b>Finite Element Analysis (FEA)</b> for structural validation is an added advantage</li><li>Understanding <b>mechatronic system integration</b> by coordinating mechanical design with sensors, actuators, and control systems is an  added advantage</li><li>Exposure to <b>TTMA </b>and <b>FMVSS </b>standards and regulations with respect to <b>Trailers </b>is an added advantage</li><li>Exposure/experience in working in a global engineering team environment (Preferably with US teams) is an  added advantage</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Personal Characteristics and Attributes: </b></p><ul><li>A seasoned, result-oriented, and self-motivated team member willing to take accountability and strive to excel;
