Supports brand strategies through execution of strategic communications initiatives for assigned therapeutic area(s); leads day-to-day execution of product communications activities
Owns communication planning for major product milestones, disease awareness initiatives, data presentations, publications, and other brand-related communications priorities
Provides strategic direction and oversight to public relations (PR) agency partner(s), including allocation of resources, prioritization of work, budget stewardship, and delivery of branded and unbranded communications that align with strategy and legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify communications needs, shape ideas and execute activities that support business priorities
Anticipates media, stakeholder, business and industry trends, and recommends creative, insight-driven ideas for communication initiatives
Develops press releases and other media materials to support campaigns, key data milestones, publications, and scientific presentations, awareness initiatives and other external communications opportunities
Identifies and prepares appropriate internal and external spokespeople for media outreach and other external engagement opportunities
Responds to media requests by working with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, thoughtful and timely responses
Secures favorable press coverage across business, health, trade and consumer news outlets, as appropriate
Builds and fosters trusting and collaborative partnerships with brand team(s), Corporate Affairs colleagues, Promotional Review Committee (PRC) members, Medical, Legal, Regulatory and Compliance partners, and other internal stakeholders
Participates in recurring PRC meetings and discusses, addresses and incorporates committee feedback, as appropriate
Guides and mentors less-experienced colleagues and shares best practices that strengthen communications capability across the function; performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field and 8+ years of communications experience in-house or within an agency as part of a team that supported corporate/product communications. Experience in the life sciences industry strongly preferred. Experience in product communications, healthcare communications or product marketing preferred. Experience managing agencies, projects and/or cross-functional workstreams preferred OR
Master’s degree in related field or MBA preferred and 6+ years of similar experience noted above
Strong business acumen and ability to connect communications strategy, stakeholder needs, and industry context to organizational objectives
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability, including leading multiple cross-functional teams and workstreams through influence rather than formal authority
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with peers, management, and leadership both within and outside the company
Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, regulated environment and build credibility across diverse functions and levels
Exhibits advanced writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, compelling and compliant communications materials for internal and external audiences
Ability to understand and translate complex scientific, clinical and business content into clear, concise and audience-appropriate messaging
Deep media expertise, including the ability to develop media materials, manage inquiries and support spokesperson preparation
Knowledge of and ability to support issues management and crisis communications preferred
Creative thinker with ability to develop actionable, measurable communications programs
Strong knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations governing branded and unbranded healthcare communications
Proactive, detail-oriented, decisive, and able to operate independently on complex or special assignments
Exceptional executive-level oral, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and influence decisions
Demonstrated learning agility and ability to rapidly develop expertise in new therapeutic areas, disease states, products, business priorities, and industry trends
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent, high-visibility initiatives with accuracy, urgency, and sound judgment
Demonstrates sound judgment, resilience, and a constructive approach in high-pressure or ambiguous situations

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $148,500.00-$203,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
