Amgen helped establish the biotechnology industry more than 40 years ago and remains on the cutting edge of innovation, using technology and human genetic data to push beyond what is known today.
This role works closely with Amgen Research partners and Technology peers to ensure that scientific, workflow, data, and platform needs for Large Molecule Discovery are translated into clear technical requirements for solution implementation. The role leverages scientific domain knowledge, Benchling platform understanding, and business process expertise to shape epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, business process maps, use cases, data requirements, and UAT scenarios for delivery teams.
You will join a multi-functional team of scientists, product owners, business analysts, developers, architects, and platform experts enabling digital capabilities for biologics discovery. The team supports scientific software platforms and workflows that enable capture, analysis, storage, registration, search, reporting, and downstream availability of biologics research data. The role is especially focused on Benchling-enabled ELN/LIMS capabilities, protein sequence and biomolecule workflows, scientific data quality, and integration readiness for downstream reporting, analytics, and AI/ML use cases.
Must-Have Skills
• Scientific business analysis experience in Research Informatics, biologics discovery, life sciences, biotechnology, bioinformatics, or related scientific technology domains.
• Experience translating scientific and technology needs into epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, use cases, test plans, and release-ready requirements.
• Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, UAT coordination, and stakeholder demos.
• Strong understanding of scientific data capture, data quality, metadata, sample/biomolecule registration concepts, and workflow standardization.
• Ability to partner with scientists, product owners, developers, architects, validation, cybersecurity, and support teams across global time zones.
Good-to-Have Skills
• Experience configuring or supporting Benchling, including ELN, LIMS, Registry, Inventory, Requests, Workflows, schemas, templates, entities, and permissions.
• Knowledge of protein sequence, cloning, expression, purification, analytics, display technologies, NGS, biomolecule registration, and protein handoff workflows.
• Experience with LIMS/ELN platforms, scientific data platforms, API integrations, data migration, Kafka/CDL-style pipelines, reporting, or instrument data ingestion.
• Understanding of FAIR data principles, scientific metadata governance, controlled vocabularies, and preparation of research data for analytics, AI, or machine learning use cases.
• Exposure to platforms such as Geneious, ADEPT, BioReg, P3, HTB, Byosphere, Spotfire, Dash apps, or equivalent scientific informatics tools.
This position may require collaboration with global teams across time zones. Candidates must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed to meet business and product delivery needs.
