To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Sourcing Manager (Mechanical Focused) located in Guadalajara, North Campus.

Reporting to the Director, Commodity Sourcing, the Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure the organization achieves its objectives related to cost, quality, delivery, innovation, sustainability, and supply continuity.

This role works on supplier selection, negotiations, risk mitigation, and cross-functional sourcing activities that support both new product introductions and ongoing production requirements.

Lead sourcing for commodities such as sheet Fab-Plastics,  Fab-Metal, CNC machining, die casting, plastic injection molding, extrusions, tooling, and mechanical assemblies while supporting customer programs from quotation through production launch.

The position works closely with Site Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer, and suppliers to secure competitive supply solutions while ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and customer requirements.

 

What a typical day looks like:

• Coordinate with Customer, site Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management
• Executive reporting and stakeholder communication
• Support customer sourcing reviews
• Lead global sourcing projects
• Ensure smoothly NPI transitions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing

• Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies for assigned Mechanical categories.
• Analyze market trends, industry dynamics, and supplier capabilities.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers to support business growth and diversification.
• Lead RFQ/RFP processes and supplier selection activities.
• Lead scouting activities related to metal suppliers regionally and globally.
• Establish long-term sourcing roadmaps aligned with business objectives.

 

Supplier Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.
• Conduct Technical reviews DFM’s to assure product will meet customer requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and service.
• Drive supplier development initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Co-work with GCM on commercial and operational escalations.
• Co-work with Customer /GAM’s and drive technical conversations

Cost Management

• Lead cost reduction and productivity initiatives.
• Conduct should-cost analysis and benchmarking studies.
• Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) opportunities.
• Support budgeting and cost planning processes.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Support sourcing activities during product development and launch phases.
• Collaborate with Flex site engineering teams on DFM, DFX, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and readiness.
• Ensure sourcing strategies support program launch schedules.
• Participate in APQP and PPAP activities.

Risk Management

• Identify and assess supply chain risks.
• Develop mitigation plans for capacity, geopolitical, logistics, and material risks.
• Implement dual-source, localization, and business continuity strategies.

Contract Management

• Co-work with GCM to negotiate commercial agreements and supplier contracts.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and intellectual property protections.

Cross-Functional Leadership                                             

• Lead sourcing projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• Present sourcing recommendations to executive leadership.
• Support customer audits and sourcing reviews.
• Mentor sourcing team members and develop organizational capabilities.
• Drive best practices across global sourcing operations.

 

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechatronic Engineering  or related field.
• MBA or master’s degree preferred.
• English C2 as minimum
• Senior experience in Mechanical environments, plastics, sheet metal, die casting, progressive dies etc. Wide supplier networking, experience in  sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
• Experience managing global suppliers and international sourcing projects.
• Experience with metal manufacturing processes and supplier qualification.
• Metal supply chain management.
• Strategic sourcing methodologies.
• Cost modeling and should-cost analysis.
• Contract negotiation and supplier management.
• APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, and automotive quality requirements.
• ERP and procurement systems.
